The conference was chaired by Dr. Pham Bich Van, Deputy Director of the Department of Health ; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hai Nam, Rector of Hanoi University of Pharmacy. The conference was also attended by leaders and officers in charge of clinical pharmacy work of medical units in the province.

Recognizing the important role of Clinical Pharmacy in improving the quality of treatment, on October 25, 2024, Lao Cai Department of Health and Hanoi University of Pharmacy signed a cooperation agreement.
After 6 months of implementation, the health sector has achieved many positive results such as: Units have updated and standardized clinical pharmacy procedures according to regulations, especially at 4 hospitals selected to implement phase 1. Currently, 14/14 hospitals in the old Lao Cai province have built drug information data and drug warnings, integrated into electronic medical record software.

In particular, General Hospital No. 2 has initially implemented the technical service "Monitoring Amikacin concentration in blood and adjusting the optimal dose of Amikacin in severe, multi-resistant patients". This is a high-tech service, only implemented at some central hospitals to optimize treatment effectiveness.
Amikacin blood levels refer to the amount of amikacin, an antibiotic, in a patient's blood at a given time. Monitoring amikacin blood levels is important to ensure treatment effectiveness and to minimize the risk of kidney and ear toxicity (nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity).
After merging from Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces according to Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 of the 15th National Assembly; the new Lao Cai province currently has 40 affiliated medical service units with nearly 9,200 medical staff, including about 500 university and postgraduate pharmacists.

To better implement clinical pharmacy work in the coming time, Lao Cai Department of Health proposed to Hanoi University of Pharmacy a number of solutions to deploy clinical pharmacy work at all 20 remaining hospitals and dual-function medical centers in the new Lao Cai province.
In addition, delegates also discussed the advantages, difficulties, and lessons learned in the process of implementing clinical pharmacy work; recommendations and proposals for effective implementation of clinical pharmacy work in hospitals.
