Within the framework of the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 3) taking place in Hai Phong from July 15-18, the spouses and accompanying persons of the delegates visited Lan Ha Bay, part of the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago, in the Cat Hai Special Zone.
The international delegation experienced a journey on a luxury cruise ship to visit the majestic natural landscape of Cat Ba, known as the "green pearl" in the Gulf of Tonkin. On the cruise ship, the delegates were introduced by a tour guide to 366 large and small islands, 136 pristine beaches and the World Biosphere Reserve. Tourists enjoyed taking souvenir photos with the majestic limestone mountains such as: Hon Guoc, Hon But, Hon Con Rua, Hon Bu Nau, Hon Tai Keo...
The delegation visited Cai Beo floating fishing village, one of the floating fishing villages with a long history of development, once known as the cradle of ancient Vietnamese culture. Delighted with the wild, natural and peaceful beauty of Lan Ha Bay (Cat Ba Archipelago), Ms. Flavia Bueno (from Peru) said that when she returns to Peru, she will introduce Lan Ha Bay in particular, Hai Phong in general to her friends and relatives and she herself will continue to return to Hai Phong if she has the opportunity.
Also within the framework of the program, the delegates visited Chu Dau pottery village, located in Thai Tan commune (Hai Phong city). This is a traditional pottery village famous for its high-class ancient Vietnamese pottery that has been famous worldwide.
At Chu Dau village, delegates and international visitors were introduced to a pottery village with a 400-year history and characteristics including 4 standards: thin as paper, clear as jade, white as ivory, and ringing like a bell. This pottery line stands out with its unique rice husk ash glaze and motifs imbued with the Vietnamese countryside such as: shepherds, lotus flowers, and chrysanthemums.
After being introduced to the unique traditional craft village, the artisans made pottery directly in front of the visitors.
Many international guests were excited and enjoyed participating in a stage of Chu Dau handmade pottery production.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong - said that the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council is an opportunity for special guests to learn about the landscape and value of the UNESCO-recognized inter-provincial World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago. At the same time, they learn about the world-famous traditional pottery village of Chu Dau.
This is also an opportunity for Hai Phong to introduce to international friends the heritages, scenic spots, and historical relics of the heroic port city and the civilized Eastern region.
The city hopes that delegates will continue to spread the image of Cat Ba in particular and Hai Phong in general to relatives and friends as a green, safe and friendly destination.
