U22 Vietnam participated in the 32nd SEA Games with the goal of winning a gold medal after two consecutive championships (2019, 2021). However, coach Philippe Troussier and his students failed to achieve the set target. U22 Vietnam lost the semi-final match against U22 Indonesia due to conceding a goal in extra time in the second half.

In the bronze medal match against U22 Myanmar, U22 Vietnam played better while their opponent seemed to have not recovered physically and mentally. The Myanmar players played with a lack of determination and made many mistakes.

U22 Vietnam controlled the match at a slow pace. Coach Troussier's students still had some awkward situations in defense but overall they still did well. The goals that came to U22 Vietnam were all according to Coach Troussier's tactical plans.

However, U22 Vietnam still showed weaknesses in high balls and set pieces. At the end of the match, goalkeeper Doan Huy Hoang had to go into the net to pick the ball from such a situation.

Aung Myo Khant scored with just a few minutes left in the match. This goal could not help U22 Myanmar turn the situation around. U22 Vietnam won 3-1 and won the bronze medal in men's football at the 32nd SEA Games.
