However, the subjects did not obey the order, recklessly increased the speed, one subject recklessly crashed the car straight into Captain Ha Van Minh and then ran away. The strong impact caused Captain Minh to be seriously injured.
Immediately afterwards, although his teammates took him to Lai Chau Provincial General Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital for emergency treatment, Captain Ha Van Minh did not survive due to severe injuries.
According to Lai Chau Provincial Police, the sacrifice of Captain Ha Van Minh is an extremely great loss for his family, relatives and the People 's Police force of Lai Chau province.

On the same day, recognizing the heroic sacrifice of Captain Ha Van Minh, General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security , signed a decision to posthumously promote the rank of Captain to Major for comrade Ha Van Minh.
At the same time, Lai Chau Provincial Police have completed the dossier and reported to the Ministry of Public Security to submit tothe President for consideration and posthumously awarding the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Major Ha Van Minh.
