Ta Dung National Park, Lam Dong Province is a bright spot in forest development associated with biodiversity conservation. Faced with challenges from climate change, forest fires and forest land encroachment, the Park Management Board is working with organizations and people to implement many synchronous solutions to "patch the forest" and expand the natural area...

Ta Dung National Park has a total natural area of about 21,000 hectares, with a coverage rate of up to 85% of the core area, more than 48% of primary forest and more than 36% of secondary forests of all kinds. This is the geographical and biological intersection between the Southern Central Highlands and the Southeast, with important value in the conservation of endemic gene species and ecological environment protection.

In recent years, in parallel with forest management and protection, Ta Dung National Park Management Board has also made efforts to develop forests and achieved many positive results. From 2014 to present, the unit has planted nearly 620 hectares with more than one million trees. To achieve this result, in addition to the efforts of the Park Management Board, there is also the cooperation and contribution of organizations and people living in the buffer zone. Elder K'Ho, Ta Dung commune said that in addition to coordinating forest management and protection, every year he and the people in the village always actively plant trees and afforest.

In 2024 alone, in response to the Prime Minister 's Project "Planting one billion trees in the period of 2021-2025", the Park Management Board coordinated with local people to plant 16,500 scattered trees in forest enrichment planting areas in poor forest locations, around the Management Board's headquarters, along National Highway 28 and supported tree planting at public works, roads, schools in villages and hamlets in the Park's buffer zone. It is expected that by the end of August 2025, the unit will complete planting an additional 15,000 trees.

Every year, the Park Management Board proactively develops a propaganda plan in many diverse and rich forms, and at the same time, deploys the Green Club for students at secondary schools in the buffer zone, integrating training to raise awareness of forest care and protection for people at meetings, especially people living near forests, ethnic minorities and participating in forest protection and development. In addition, the Park Management Board promotes connections and links with units and individuals receiving support for seedlings and implementing forest planting.

General Director of JOY FOUNDATION Social Limited Liability Company Nguyen Sieu Hanh said: “When we started the survey in 2023, we felt the readiness of the leadership team and all the staff, managers and forest rangers here to coordinate, share information transparently and truly want to create sustainable changes for the forest. Besides, Ta Dung is one of the areas with great potential for ecotourism. I believe that protecting the forest here is not only an environmental story, but also a part of local economic development in the future.”

Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh, General Director of InterLOG International Logistics Joint Stock Company, said that the organization launched the running and walking program to spread the spirit of green living and sustainable development. With a total recorded length of nearly 25,000 km, the program converted into 3,000 trees contributing to the journey of greening Vietnam. And the first 3,000 trees have officially sprouted in Ta Dung National Park.

Director of Ta Dung National Park Management Board Khuong Thanh Long said that, in addition to the precious biodiversity value bestowed by nature, the green color of the Park is also the result of the companionship and persistent efforts between the Management Board and organizations and people in the buffer zone in "forest patching" to overcome poor forest areas and previously encroached forest fragments to fill gaps, develop forests, increase coverage, and create a national park ecosystem over time.
