Graduated from the Music Department of Quang Binh Pedagogical College in 2003, Mr. Cuong joined the Youth Union in Bac Nghia Ward, Dong Hoi City (old). As the Secretary of the Youth Union of Sub-zone 8, Mr. Cuong was always active and enthusiastic in volunteer and humanitarian activities, especially the local voluntary blood donation movement. Unlike his peers at that time, because they did not fully understand voluntary blood donation, many people were hesitant and reserved, Mr. Cuong was always a pioneer in voluntary blood donation movements organized locally and at the grassroots level.

Sharing his feelings when he first donated blood 17 years ago, Mr. Cuong happily confided: “At first, I simply thought that as a Youth Union official, I had to be the first to donate blood, so I registered to donate blood. But then, I found that not only was my health not affected, but I felt happier when the blood I donated could save a patient in critical condition. Since then, I have paid more attention to my diet, taken care of myself, and ensured the best health for the next blood donations.”

Deeply aware of the importance of donating blood to save lives, Mr. Cuong has always been a pioneer in the voluntary blood donation movement in the locality and at the grassroots level. Every year, he regularly participates in donating blood twice, each time 350ml. Since his first blood donation, his voluntary blood donation certificates with bright red letters have been stacked up, with a total of 36 times of "giving away" drops of blood.

“Blood cannot be created but can only be donated from one person to another, so for me, the saying “Every drop of blood given – A life remains” is very profound and meaningful. As long as I am healthy, I will continue to participate in humanitarian blood donation. I also hope to continue to mobilize more people to participate in blood donation to help patients in need of blood in critical situations. Being able to contribute to society to help patients undergoing treatment is my great happiness,” Mr. Cuong confided.

With 36 times of whole blood donation, Mr. Ngo Dung Cuong is one of two representatives of the province honored by the National Steering Committee for Blood Donation as a typical blood donation model nationwide in 2025 and awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society . In 2024, Mr. Cuong's family was honored as "Typical Blood Donation Family" with 40 blood donations - an impressive number that demonstrates the sharing and compassion spreading from the family home.

As a freelance worker, despite the hardships of life, in addition to directly participating in humanitarian blood donation, Mr. Cuong also takes on the role of Vice Chairman of the Blood Donation Club of Dong Hoi City (formerly). In this position, Mr. Cuong is even more proactive and energetic, contributing to "lighting the fire" and "spreading the fire" for the local blood donation movement. Over the past 17 years, he has always been diligent in conveying the message, mobilizing everyone to join hands in donating blood to save lives. With his personal reputation, up to now, Mr. Cuong has mobilized 1,500 people to participate in blood donation.

In particular, Mr. Cuong's volunteer fire also spreads within his own family. His wife and younger brother both participate in HMTN, contributing to promoting and spreading humanitarian values from family to community and society.

Commenting on the non-stop blood donation journey of Mr. Ngo Dung Cuong, Ms. Tran Thi Sau, former President of the Red Cross Society of Dong Hoi City, affirmed: “With 36 times of being ready to “share blood” to “give hope” to patients in need of blood transfusion, what Mr. Ngo Dung Cuong does is not something that everyone can do.

On the journey of nurturing and fueling the fire of charity in response to the HMTN movement, Mr. Cuong has made many positive contributions. He deserves to be a shining example in spreading the HMTN movement of his province more and more in the community, contributing to promoting the spirit of solidarity, love, and responsible living in the young generation.

With his positive contributions to the HMTN movement, Mr. Ngo Dung Cuong has received recognition from organizations and individuals through dozens of certificates of merit from the Central and local levels. His heart and noble deeds have contributed to spreading the humanitarian spirit of the HMTN movement to the community and society, lighting up hope and faith for patients, together building a compassionate society full of love and happiness.
