According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Lam Son commune, at around 4:45 p.m. on September 17, MN (8 years old, female) and SLY Ph (6 years old, male), both students of Lam Son B Primary School, were on their way home from school, cycling from Lam Quy village towards Gon 1 village, when they reached the spillway of Lam Quy village and were swept away by the water.
After receiving the news, the People's Committee of Lam Son Commune and the Command Board for Natural Disaster Prevention and Rescue of the Commune organized a search. However, at that time there was heavy rain, the flood water came quickly and strongly, so the search for the victims encountered many difficulties. At about 9:30 p.m. the same day, the rescue forces found the bodies of the two children, about 2 km from the spillway.
Representatives of Lam Son Commune People's Committee came to share and encourage the families of the two students; coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ninh Son District to mobilize donations to help the families pay for the funerals of the students.
