Promoting Vietnam - Cambodia border cooperation

During his visit and working session in Prey Veng province (Cambodia), Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized the importance of the inauguration of the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh, Vietnam) - Meun Chey (Prey Veng, Cambodia) international border gate pair in promoting economic, trade and people-to-people exchange between the border provinces of the two countries.

According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, last week, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu and a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia visited and worked in Prey Veng province.

At the Meun Chey International Border Gate Police Station (Prey Veng Province), Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu worked with Mr. Suon Somalin, Governor of Prey Veng Province and representatives of local departments, agencies and sectors. The two sides discussed the cooperative relationship between Prey Veng Province and border provinces of Vietnam, especially Tay Ninh and Dong Thap .

Governor Suon Somalin affirmed the close cooperation with the border provinces of Vietnam, especially in the fields of economy , trade and people-to-people exchange. He expressed his hope that the inauguration of the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh) - Meun Chey (Prey Veng) international border gate pair will contribute to further promoting economic cooperation, trade and people-to-people exchange between Prey Veng province and the border provinces of Vietnam, as well as the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates the effective cooperation between Prey Veng and Vietnam's border provinces. He hopes that in the coming time, economic, trade and investment cooperation between Prey Veng, Tay Ninh and Dong Thap will continue to be comprehensively promoted.

The delegation also surveyed the construction progress of Tan Nam International Border Gate (Tay Ninh). Tan Nam International Border Gate is expected to be completed before September 15, 2025 so that it can hold an official inauguration ceremony and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that the opening of the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh) - Meun Chey (Prey Veng) international border gate pair is of great interest to the leaders of the two governments because it will contribute to promoting economic, trade and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. The Ambassador requested relevant units to make efforts to complete the construction soon.

After the inauguration ceremony, this pair of border gates is expected to create a change in the flow of goods, people and vehicles, thereby contributing positively to the economic development of the border area between Vietnam and Cambodia.
