According to the Bangkok Post, on July 1, the Thai Constitutional Court decided to suspend Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office pending consideration of a lawsuit requesting her removal.
"With 7 votes in favor and 2 votes against, the Constitutional Court decided to suspend Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra from her duties as Prime Minister from July 1 until the Constitutional Court makes a judgment," the source said.

The Constitutional Court has accepted a petition from 36 senators asking them to investigate a leaked recording of a phone conversation between Paetongtarn and Senate President Hun Sen last month, and to remove her from office as prime minister, the court said in a statement.
However, Ms. Paetongtarn was still kept as Minister of Culture in the cabinet.
Deputy Prime Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit will be acting Prime Minister of Thailand while Ms. Paetongtarn is suspended from office.
Previously, on June 28, thousands of protesters gathered in the capital Bangkok demanding the resignation of Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

The protest, organized by the Ruam Palang Paendin Pokpong Athipatai (National Power Alliance to Protect Sovereignty ) movement, was the largest since the Pheu Thai Party took power in 2023.
