The Co Long village art troupe, Van Ho commune, regularly practices.

Every year, the Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center organizes 6 to 7 training courses, each course lasts 10 days, with the participation of 35-50 students who are the core arts of the communes, guided by experienced artists and choreographers, imparting knowledge on program organization, dance skills, vocal music, musical instrument performance, staging of shows; practicing folk performances typical of the Thai, Mong, Kho Mu ethnic groups... methodically and in depth.

Meritorious Artist Lo Hai Lam, Head of the Cultural Affairs Department, Provincial Cultural and Cinema Center, said: Since the beginning of the year, the Center has organized 3 training courses for more than 100 students who are the core of grassroots arts in the communes of Chieng Mai, Muong La, and Bac Yen. This July, we continue to organize training in Muong Bang commune. Currently, the unit's staff are focusing on learning about the customs, life, and beliefs of the people, thereby building training content suitable to the cultural identity of the community.

As one of the bright spots in the cultural and artistic movement, Co Long village, Van Ho commune currently has 2 mass art teams, with more than 30 members of many ages. In early 2024, the members of the village art team were trained by the Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center, supported in staging an art program with many dance, singing, and musical instrument performances, imbued with the cultural colors of the Mong people.

Members of the Co Long village art troupe, Van Ho commune, practice performing Mong panpipe dance.

Mr. Giang A Dua, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Co Long Village, shared: Previously, the art troupe mainly practiced and performed by self-studying through clips on the internet, using available background music of low quality; the repertoire was not diverse. With the training of cadres and artists, the village art troupe has now built many unique art programs, imbued with national identity to perform for the people. More importantly, the younger generation has access to, learned and preserved traditional cultural values, avoiding the risk of fading away. The Village Management Board has allocated funds to support the art troupe in purchasing speakers, radios, costumes, and props to improve the quality of performances.

Ms. Lo Thi Bich Thuy, Director of the Culture - Cinema Center of Son La province, affirmed: Organizing training programs for the core team of grassroots arts is not only a professional activity, but also contributes practically to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups. Through each training course, the core team is increasingly mature, more creative in staging and performing; the grassroots arts movement is also increasingly flourishing, creating a joyful atmosphere, connecting the community, improving the spiritual life of the people.

With creative and flexible communication methods, rich and practical content, the core art training classes organized by the Provincial Culture - Cinema Center are contributing to reviving traditional cultural values in modern life. This is a solid foundation for the mass art movement to continue to develop strongly, spread widely, and enrich the spiritual life of ethnic minorities.
