Joy in new homes
In late August, when the circulation of storm No. 5 was still bringing heavy rain, the joy in the new house of Mr. Chang A Khanh, Mong ethnic group, Na Cooc village, Binh An commune, did not diminish. The makeshift house, which had been stained by each rainy season, has now been replaced by a new, spacious and clean house, with a total area of over 100 m2. The project was carried out thanks to the State's support of 60 million VND, along with the help of the villagers, who did not hesitate to contribute their efforts, workdays, and materials to complete the house. Mr. Khanh emotionally shared: "The new house is the dream of the whole family for many years. Before, every rainy season, the whole family lived in worry, afraid of the house collapsing and leaking. Now, we can rest assured to do business and develop the economy ."
After years of fighting in the Central Highlands battlefield, veteran Hoang Xuan Nhi, 88 years old, Nam Khuong village, Khuon Lung commune, returned to his hometown carrying toxic chemicals, with a disability rate of up to 81%. After many years of living in a temporary house, his old age and weakness always made him dream of having a solid roof to enjoy his old age. Last June, thanks to the support of Tuyen Quang Provincial Police (former Ha Giang Provincial Police), his 4-room concrete stilt house with an area of 85 m2 was completed. The house has a corrugated iron roof, brick walls, and a solid wooden floor. Mr. Nhi choked up and said: "I didn't think that at this age I could live in such a sturdy house. I will have good sleep in the new house, warm meals with my children and grandchildren with deep gratitude to the Party and the State".
Strength from solidarity
Tuyen Quang has been active in implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses under the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind" launched by the Prime Minister. As of August 25, the whole province has started construction of 15,064 houses, of which 14,653 have been completed, reaching more than 97% of the plan. The remaining 411 houses are in the process of completion, expected to be completed before August 31.
Not only stopping at numbers, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses also arouses the spirit of humanity and community solidarity in each village. Mr. Nguyen Viet Khanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, said: The process of implementing the program has mobilized the combined strength of all levels, sectors, socio-political organizations, businesses, people and the community. Through the "For the Poor" Fund, organizations, individuals and businesses have donated tens of billions of VND, along with support in terms of working days and materials from the community, cadres, civil servants, public employees, soldiers and armed forces through the 3 activities with the People, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and mutual love "The whole leaves cover the torn leaves" of the Vietnamese people.
The elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses is not only to improve people's material conditions, but also a push to help them change their thinking and proactively improve their lives. New roofs are not only a symbol of changes in infrastructure, but also the result of trust, of correct and timely policies, close to the people and for the people. In particular, the completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, has profound political and social significance. It is a vivid demonstration of the spirit of "accompanying the people", affirming the determination of the Party, State and authorities at all levels in implementing the commitment of "leaving no one behind".
