According to Vietnam News Agency, the activity was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam).
At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, expressed her desire to promote cooperation between Vietnamese localities and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). She emphasized the need to increase the exchange of students, lecturers and researchers, and proposed implementing scholarship programs and training cooperation in areas of strength of both sides such as sustainable development, art and design, urban planning, and tourism management.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van also expressed her desire to coordinate the implementation of joint research projects on cultural heritage preservation, innovation, digital government and public administration, climate change adaptation and creative industry development. She proposed connecting FHNW University’s innovation centers with the startup ecosystem in Hue, prioritizing initiatives on sustainable tourism and startups based on indigenous culture.
At the meeting, Dr. Teresa Freiburghaus, FHNW University, introduced in detail the Swiss education system and the role of FHNW University - one of the five largest public universities in the country, ranked in the top 500 universities in Europe. The school currently has more than 12,400 students, including many international students. Each year, FHNW University receives an investment of about 100 million Swiss francs for research and innovation projects, collaborating with more than 400 global partners.
Ms. Marco Casanova, representative of FHNW University, welcomed the cooperation proposals from Vietnam and affirmed that the school is always ready to expand programs to receive Vietnamese students in the future. She also shared the previous cooperation achievements between FHNW University and a number of universities in Vietnam, expressing confidence in the potential for long-term cooperation.
Also within the framework of the working trip, FHNW University had a working session with other localities of Vietnam such as Bac Lieu, Phu Yen, Quang Binh and Vinh Long, to promote cooperation in the field of education between localities of Vietnam and Switzerland.
