Driver causing multiple accidents in Thu Duc admits 'just finished drinking'

On November 13, Thu Duc City Police detained Pham Cao Tri (39 years old, residing in District 8, from Tien Giang ) to take his statement and investigate the car accident that caused a series of accidents on Nguyen Van Tang Street, Long Thanh My Ward the previous afternoon.

Police investigation results show that at the time of the accident, driver Tri had a blood alcohol concentration.

Tri confessed that on the afternoon of November 12, he had been drinking with some friends at an apartment building on Nguyen Xien Street, Thu Duc City, about 1km from the scene of the accident.

As reported, at 4:00 p.m. on November 12, a 7-seat car with license plate 51K-020.07 was traveling on Nguyen Van Tang Street. When reaching the intersection with Highway 15, the car collided with a 7-seat car and a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

After the collision, the car veered into the opposite lane and hit three motorbikes in succession, throwing the driver off the road. The car continued to drive onto the sidewalk and into the yard of a house.

The multiple accidents caused damage to the vehicles. The girl riding the motorbike died on the spot and several injured people had to be hospitalized.

Witnesses at the scene said the driver got out of the car looking drunk and not alert.
