Immediately after the incident occurred, local authorities worked with the vehicle owner to find a solution to overcome the consequences. The vehicle owner committed to bear all costs of repair and the cost of deploying a temporary ferry while waiting for repairs.

The People's Committee of My Tu district hired a consulting unit specializing in iron bridges in Can Tho City to assess the damage and propose a solution to fix and repair the iron bridge. After nearly 1 month of the incident, the repair and repair work of the iron bridge has been completed.

According to the Department of Economics , Infrastructure and Urban Affairs of My Tu district, the total cost of repair and restoration is nearly 200 million VND, not including the costs arising from the temporary ferry deployment while waiting for repairs. All of the above costs are borne by the owner of the vehicle causing the incident.

Currently, local authorities have allowed people and vehicles to pass through the bridge, while functional agencies continue to monitor the bridge's load-bearing capacity to promptly handle any unusual signs.

Previously, at around 3:30 p.m. on May 18, Mr. Son Thanh Tung (born in 1985, residing in Rach Sen hamlet, Thanh Phu commune, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province) drove a truck with a crane (license plate 83C.xxx) carrying 12 concrete piles on Provincial Road 940.

When arriving at Phuoc An hamlet (My Thuan commune, My Tu district, Soc Trang province), Mr. Tung drove his car across the iron bridge when suddenly the bridge collapsed on one side. The incident did not cause any human casualties, but caused traffic congestion, and the local authorities had to deploy a temporary ferry to regulate traffic.
