Prepare carefully

The 2025 Census is one of the most important censuses of the Statistics sector, conducted periodically every 10 years, deployed nationally. According to Mr. Tran Ho Binh Tuy, Deputy Head of the Can Tho City Statistics Office, the results of the 2025 Census serve the compilation of relevant statistical indicators belonging to the national statistical indicator system; compile socio -economic indicators to serve the assessment of the current situation, analysis of changing trends, development of plans and strategies for rural development, agriculture, forestry and fisheries (AFF) and improvement of the living standards of rural residents nationally as well as in each locality. Serve research to assess the scale and structure of rural labor and AFF; changes in rural infrastructure; the implementation of some contents of national programs and targets in the rural and AFF sectors; serve international comparisons of rural and AFF indicators. Build a database on rural areas and NLTS to serve in-depth research; serve as a sampling frame for a number of annual periodic surveys on the NLTS sector and meet other statistical requirements.

Investigators collect information on the 2025 Census at households in Co Do commune, Can Tho city.

The 2025 Census collects 3 groups of information: the current status of agricultural , forestry and fishery production; the current status of rural areas; information on rural residents. The survey subjects include: workers participating in NNFS activities; households participate in NNFS activities; farms, enterprises, cooperatives participate in NNFS activities; Commune People's Committees. The 2025 Census will simultaneously implement 2 methods of information collection: direct interviews (using electronic survey forms - CAPI and paper survey forms) and indirect information collection (using electronic survey forms - Webform) from the survey units.

In Can Tho City, the survey and information collection for the 2025 Census were conducted in 3,234 areas; including 708 urban areas and 2,526 rural areas. The city mobilized 3,525 investigators to collect information and 322 team leaders for this survey. In order to ensure the quality of information collection, the City Statistics Office selected investigators and supervisors who were experienced in statistical surveys, had a high sense of responsibility, and were knowledgeable about the area. Along with that, professional training was carefully prepared, with focused and key training content. Propaganda work was also focused on so that the subjects of the survey clearly understood the purpose and significance of the survey as well as fulfilled their obligations to provide accurate, complete, and timely information to the investigators. Depending on each locality, propaganda work is applied appropriately through forms such as posting content related to the 2025 Census on the website of the City Statistics Office; hanging/pasting billboards and posters in public places, gates of commune and ward People's Committees; groundswell loudspeakers, etc.

Determination to win

The 2025 Census takes place at a special time, when the whole country is promoting the implementation of administrative boundary arrangement and the conversion of the 2-level local government model, so it also faces many difficulties. The change of administrative boundaries and the arrangement of the apparatus affects the work of perfecting the census steering committees at all levels. The forces participating in supervision and investigation at the district and commune levels also have many changes, especially when the time of the census coincides with the period when new administrative units begin to operate. The statistical sector at all levels has been proactive and flexibly adapted to the major changes of the country in the context of implementing administrative boundary arrangement and the conversion of the 2-level local government model to ensure continuous and uninterrupted implementation of the 2025 Census.

Thanks to the thorough and thoughtful preparation as well as the smooth coordination of the Statistics Department, in recent days, the work of collecting information for the 2025 Census in the city has been quite smooth. The force participating in the 2025 Census has made great efforts to complete the task well. Ms. Cao Thi Cao, an investigator of Co Do commune, Can Tho city, shared: "We have been thoroughly trained in both theory and practice in the investigation by mobile phone, at the same time, closely following the list of household items that have been sampled in the assigned area. I was assigned to collect information from 171 household items, by the end of July 3, 2025, I had collected 34 household items. I will arrange my work, try to complete the information collection at the assigned household as soon as possible, ensuring that the information collection at the household is carried out accurately and completely to record the information on the survey form”.

Mr. Duong Minh Tan, Head of Statistics Team No. 5 - Can Tho City Statistics Office, said: Currently, the investigators are actively collecting information in the assigned areas and all use smartphones and tablets for the investigation. Through the monitoring process, the Investigators go to households, directly interview, and record information on the CAPI form clearly and accurately according to the correct procedure. The Investigators are local people, knowledgeable about the area, so it is relatively easy to approach household. The investigation force is motivated to complete the information collection in the area under their responsibility by July 25, 2025.

Recently, the Central Monitoring Team for the 2025 National Target Program inspected the 2025 National Target Program in Can Tho City. The team inspected the actual information collection work of Investigators at a number of households and farms in the city. At the inspection points, the members of the monitoring team promptly pointed out some errors made by the Investigators and gave suggestions on how to ask questions when collecting information.

Ms. Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Head of the Statistical Investigation Department (General Statistics Office) - Head of the monitoring delegation said: The monitoring delegation inspected the actual collection of information on the 2025 Census in the localities in the first days of the campaign to promptly grasp the implementation situation, difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process. Thereby, promptly giving comments and directly supporting the investigators, and at the same time reporting to the Central Steering Committee of the 2025 Census to grasp and promptly handle the obstacles so that the 2025 Census can ensure quality and progress.
