Army completes largest peacekeeping exercise in India

At the closing ceremony, delegates watched many practical and meaningful exercises of the peacekeeping forces of Vietnam and India. Among them, there was a demonstration of rescue operations in situations of earthquakes, fires, floods, industrial disasters from chemical plants, etc.

Military personnel and 2 observers from agencies and units under the Ministry of Defense participated in the exercise in India.

Besides, the Indian side also displayed weapons, equipment, vehicles, drones, etc.

Speaking at the ceremony, Brigadier General Sumit Kapoor, Commander of the 67th Engineer Regiment of the 474th Engineer Brigade, highly appreciated the efforts of the forces participating in the exercise, affirming that Vinbax 2024 was organized according to plan, achieved the set objectives and was a complete success in all aspects of work.

Colonel Luu Dinh Hien, Commander of the Training Center, Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, and Vietnam's defense attaché in India, said that this joint exercise between Vietnam and India is an important milestone, and is the largest-scale field exercise with the largest number of participants ever.

Forces of the two countries visit Indian equipment

Colonel Hien expressed that these achievements continue to spread to other fields besides bilateral military cooperation and peacekeeping within the framework of the United Nations .

According to the assessment, during more than 20 days of participating in Vinbax 2024, the forces of the two countries focused on the contents of deploying activities and performing tasks of the engineering team combined with the work of ensuring military medicine in the formation of units participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

The activities of deploying and performing the tasks of the engineering forces in the field of the mission include: construction, repair and maintenance of roads and bridges; repair and upgrade of field runways and helicopter landing pads; operation and maintenance of heavy vehicles such as excavators, bulldozers, cranes, forklifts and other specialized vehicles; surveying, identifying and clearing mines and unexploded ordnance left over from the war; humanitarian assistance and disaster relief; use of air force and drones in reconnaissance, logistics support, air rescue, etc.

Some rescue activities at the closing ceremony of the drill

Vinbax 2024 is the 5th UN peacekeeping exercise between the Vietnamese army and the Indian army. Previously, the 4th exercise was successfully held in Vietnam in December 2023.

This exercise started on November 4, with Vietnam sending 47 soldiers and 2 observers from agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense to participate.
