During the 2020-2025 term, the world and regional situation has many rapid, complex and unprecedented changes, causing serious impacts on our country in all fields; along with that, the Fourth Industrial Revolution has developed strongly, deeply affecting all aspects of social life, including the maritime industry.
Overcoming the waves and reaching far - entering a new era
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in that context, under the close leadership and direction of the Party, the State, the Central Committees, ministries, branches, the Party Committee of the Central Enterprises Bloc, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, the Party Committee of Vietnam National Shipping Lines ( VIMC ) has united, unified, made efforts, determined, effectively implemented tasks and solutions, and exceeded the targets set by the Resolution of the 6th VIMC Party Congress.
The Party Committee has done a good job of thoroughly grasping and implementing the Resolutions and instructions from higher levels, continuously innovating the Party Committee's leadership and activities, building a clean and strong Party Committee, and performing well the Party Committee's comprehensive leadership role for VIMC.
Successfully implemented the restructuring process, notably financial restructuring with new, market-based solutions.
Resolutely innovate management methods, implement many solutions to increase business efficiency, gradually restore growth momentum, and strengthen the trust of partners and customers. In 5 years, VIMC's total profit reached more than 15,000 billion VND.
On behalf of the Government Party Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long highly appreciated and warmly congratulated the achievements that VIMC has achieved, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, efforts, determination, innovation and creativity of many generations of leaders, party members, cadres, officers, crew members and workers of VIMC, contributing to building the image and reputation of VIMC today, which is the new foundation of position and strength for VIMC to "Go beyond the waves - enter the new era".
The 7th VIMC Party Congress, term 2025-2030, takes place at a time when the country is preparing to enter a new era of development with many important policies on restructuring the apparatus, merging administrative units; removing bottlenecks in development institutions; developing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; promoting private economic development; international integration in the new situation. "These are historic decisions, creating position and strength for national development, bringing new space and development opportunities for fields, including the maritime industry as well as VIMC," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
In that context, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long suggested that the Congress focus on studying and carefully evaluating the achieved results; analyzing the causes and lessons learned; closely following the vision - mission - core values and business philosophy; closely forecasting the situation to set out goals, tasks, directions and effective solutions to build VIMC to hold the No. 1 position in the Vietnamese maritime industry, with a high brand and competitiveness in the Asian region and a global scope of operations.
5 big notes
Basically agreeing with the viewpoints, goals, key tasks, and 5 breakthroughs stated in the Political Report, the Deputy Prime Minister noted some additional contents.
Firstly, party members, cadres, officers, crew members and workers in the entire VIMC system need to raise awareness, change their thinking, way of thinking, way of doing; overcome limitations and shortcomings; constantly improve working capacity, dedication in each position, each job position, building VIMC to develop increasingly stronger.
Second, focus on building and implementing VIMC's development strategy for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision to 2045; promote innovation, digital transformation, and green transformation in all business activities, from management and operations to port operations, maritime transport, and logistics services.
Third, invest in developing a synchronous infrastructure system to meet the economy's increasing demand for goods transportation and reduce national logistics costs; invest in new and expand the system of deep-water seaports and international transit ports in a modern direction; develop a large-tonnage shipping fleet, focusing on container transportation.
Fourth, continue to perfect the modern corporate governance model, in accordance with international practices, ensuring transparent, efficient operations with high competitiveness. Build a high-quality workforce with deep expertise and modern management skills. Promote international cooperation, constantly learn and absorb advanced management experiences in the world.
Fifth, enhance competitiveness, develop services, expand markets; participate more deeply in the global supply chain; develop enterprises in both scale and business efficiency; maintain the role of a core state-owned enterprise in the Vietnamese maritime sector, becoming a large maritime corporation in the region and the world. Strive for consolidated profits to increase by at least 170% by 2030 compared to 2025.
Maintain the leading position in Vietnam's maritime industry
With the motto "Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the Congress has a noble mission and responsibility, continuing history, drawing a strategic chart for the VIMC ship to firmly overcome the waves and reach far.
With a strategic vision, the Congress agreed on the goal of maintaining the leading position of the Vietnamese maritime industry by 2030, having high competitiveness in the Asian region, global scope of operations and aiming to become one of the top 10 maritime corporations in Asia by 2045, with an international brand, making great contributions to the sustainable development of Vietnam's maritime economy.
The Party Committee of the Corporation determined: Striving to achieve about 18% of the national maritime transport market share. In particular, developing the container fleet to become a national branded shipping line, holding the No. 1 position in domestic market share, expanding intra-Asia container routes, connecting with transit ports in the region.
The main targets by 2030 are clearly defined: Maritime transport output reaches more than 30 million tons (up 42% compared to 2025), seaport output reaches nearly 238 million tons (up 50%), consolidated revenue reaches more than 34,000 billion VND, consolidated profit reaches over 5,100 billion VND.
Building smart, automated seaports; achieving a total capacity of 200 million tons/year; reducing cargo handling time by 20%; receiving 15 million TEU containers.
Prioritize investment in strategic deep-water ports such as Lach Huyen, Can Gio, Lien Chieu, Nam Do Son, etc. to create new momentum for the national logistics network.
Strive to capture 2-2.5% of integrated logistics market share and increase 30% presence in the international market.
