Two U23 Vietnam players caught the eye of AFF

(Dan Tri) - Before the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) highly appreciated two Vietnamese players.

The Southeast Asian U23 Championship will kick off from July 15-29. Vietnam U23 is highly regarded ahead of the tournament as we were the champions in the last two editions in 2022 and 2023.

Ahead of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, AFF paid special attention to two players of the U23 Vietnam team, Nguyen Van Truong and Nguyen Thai Son. These are players who have played for Vietnam's youth teams for many years and have had the opportunity to play for the Vietnam national team.

The AFF homepage wrote: “ Ha Noi FC midfielder Van Truong was a member of the U23 Vietnam team that won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship two years ago. However, in that tournament, he mainly played as a reserve player.

In this tournament, the 22-year-old player is aiming to play a more important role. With an impressive physique, Van Truong has the ability to compete for high balls and keep the ball firmly for his team.

Meanwhile, Thai Son, who turned 22 a few days before the tournament kicked off, brings a lot of quality and experience to coach Kim Sang Sik's squad. Thai Son was named Vietnam's Best Young Player in 2023.

This player is versatile, hard-working and has played for the Vietnam national team in the 2023 Asian Cup and the 2024 U23 Asian Cup finals. He is also a mainstay of Thanh Hoa Club playing in the V-League.

Vietnam U23 will start the AFC U23 Championship with a match against Laos U23 at 5pm on July 19. Then, we will face Cambodia U23 at 8pm on July 22. The top three teams and the second-placed team will qualify for the semi-finals.
