Inheriting a solid foundation
Quang Tri province has a coastline of more than 240 km, connecting strategic traffic routes such as National Highway 1, Ho Chi Minh Road, North-South Expressway and in the future, high-speed railway. In particular, having two large seaports Hon La and My Thuy and two airports Dong Hoi and Quang Tri (under construction) are important premises to create momentum for the province to become a logistics and multimodal trade center of the region.
In recent times, the two provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri (old) have focused on developing key economic zones and industrial parks. In Quang Binh (old), 8/10 industrial parks have detailed plans with a total area of 1,510 hectares. Of which, 3 industrial parks: Tay Bac Dong Hoi, Bac Dong Hoi and Hon La Seaport have been invested in synchronous infrastructure and attracted over 80% of investment capital.
According to data from the Management Board of Quang Binh Economic Zones (old), in the first 6 months of 2025, the economic zones and industrial parks in the province attracted 8 new investment projects with a total capital of 1,032 billion VND, bringing the total number of projects granted investment policies to 197 with a total investment of 121,097 billion VND. Many large-scale, dynamic projects are being accelerated, such as the Quang Trach Power Center with Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant expected to operate in 2025, and Quang Trach II and III LNG Thermal Power Plants are also being prepared for investment.
Besides energy, transport infrastructure is also being invested in with Hon La International General Port implementing phase I, expected to be operational in 2026. Industrial park projects such as Cam Lien and Hon La II are also being accelerated to be ready to attract investors.

Quang Tri Province (old) with its strategic location on the East-West Economic Corridor has accelerated the progress of implementing the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, orienting the development of energy industry, seaports and logistics, along with other industrial parks such as Nam Dong Ha, Quan Ngang, Tay Bac Ho Xa...
Notably, the My Thuy Port Area project with a total investment of over VND 14,200 billion, a scale of 10 berths, is capable of receiving ships with a tonnage of up to 100,000 tons. Phase 1 is expected to complete 4 berths by 2025. My Thuy Port not only serves the province's cargo transportation but also plays a strategic role in connecting inter-regional and international, being a gateway for transiting goods from North Central Vietnam to Southern Laos and Northeast Thailand via La Lay International Border Gate.
For the Component 2 Project of Quang Tri Airport Construction, after nearly a year of construction, the aircraft parking area has been completed. The airport is oriented to develop into a regional and international aviation complex, including a cargo transit center, an aviation industrial complex and an airport urban area, striving to put into operation from July 2026.
Other key projects such as Quang Tri Industrial Park and Hai Lang LNG Power Center are also being accelerated. Quang Tri Industrial Park with a total area of over 481.2 hectares and an investment capital of over VND2,074 billion, although the current occupancy rate is 5%, with its strategic location, competitive labor costs and synchronous infrastructure promises to strongly attract investors. In particular, projects in Quang Tri Industrial Park also enjoy a preferential tax rate of 17% for 10 years, 100% exemption from corporate income tax for the first 2 years and a 50% reduction for the next 4 years, creating great attraction for businesses.
Turn advantages into breakthrough drivers
With a coastline of over 240 km, two seaports of Hon La and My Thuy, and the airport systems of Dong Hoi and Quang Tri under construction, the new Quang Tri province possesses outstanding advantages to become an international logistics and trade center. My Thuy seaport will be a strategic gateway for transiting goods from North Central Vietnam to Laos and Northeast Thailand. Hon La international general port and Quang Tri airport will create a synchronous multimodal transport network, turning the new province into a bustling transit hub for goods and passengers.

In addition to traditional energy projects, the province also prioritizes the transition to clean and high-tech energy. The Quang Trach II, III LNG Thermal Power Projects and the Hai Lang LNG Power Center affirm the long-term vision of a green and sustainable energy industry. Industrial parks such as Quang Tri Industrial Park (QTIP) with attractive tax incentives are strongly attracting modern industrial production projects with high added value, contributing to the sustainable economic restructuring.
The merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces into the new Quang Tri province will bring opportunities to build a diverse and attractive tourism product chain, connecting famous destinations of both old localities.
Improve competitiveness and attract investment
To realize the above potentials, Quang Tri province needs to continue investing in the transportation system, ensuring smooth connections from the province to the region and internationally. Speed up the implementation of projects such as the industrial parks: Cam Lien, Hon La II and Trieu Phu multi-industry industrial park... to be ready to welcome the new wave of investment.
At the same time, promote administrative reform and investment environment through strong application of information technology in administrative procedures, creating the most open, transparent and favorable investment and business environment for enterprises, especially attracting FDI capital.
Developing high-quality human resources by building vocational training programs linked to the actual needs of key economic sectors such as logistics, energy, high technology and tourism to provide a workforce with expertise and skills to meet the development requirements of the province in the new era.
With strategic vision, solid foundation inheritance and breakthrough development orientation, the new Quang Tri province is ready to expand development space, create new values, and make an important contribution to the common prosperity of the North Central region and the whole country.
