Striving to start construction of 3 blocks of Hai Duong General Hospital before September 2

According to information at the working session between the leaders of the Hai Phong City Department of Health and Hai Duong General Hospital, the hospital's 3 buildings are expected to start construction before September 2.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Quang, Director of the Hai Phong City Department of Health, requested Hai Duong General Hospital to overcome difficulties, improve expertise and professionalism facility to become a prestigious and reliable medical in the western region of Hai Phong.

On July 7, leaders of the Hai Phong City Department of Health worked with Hai Duong General Hospital on the operation situation in the first 6 months of 2025.

Concluding the meeting, Director of Hai Phong Department of Health Le Minh Quang acknowledged the efforts of Hai Duong General Hospital in ensuring medical examination and treatment in difficult conditions of facilities and infrastructure. At the same time, he shared with the hospital leaders when implementing the autonomy mechanism, creating revenue sources, and increasing income for staff and employees.

Dr. Vu Minh Hiep, Director of Hai Duong General Hospital, requested the Hai Phong City Department of Health to support in removing difficulties in supplementing the list of special techniques and procedures in medical examination and treatment.

Although facilities and equipment are not yet adequate, Hai Duong General Hospital has actively formed joint ventures, partnerships, and transferred new medical examination and treatment techniques, mastering a number of specialized procedures.

The leaders of the Hai Phong Department of Health requested that in the coming time, Hai Duong General Hospital proactively remove difficulties and obstacles in purchasing medical equipment, ensuring continuous and smooth medical examination and treatment activities to attract patients and retain medical staff. Hai Duong General Hospital needs to continue to improve its professional and technical work to develop sustainably, becoming a prestigious and reliable medical facility in the western region of Hai Phong.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Quang Canh, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Department of Health, informed that before September 2, the construction of 3 emergency, technical and paraclinical, and inpatient buildings of Hai Duong General Hospital will begin. Along with that, the buildings currently in use will also be upgraded to meet the health care needs of the people. In addition, the hospital will invest in purchasing 82 additional equipment for professional activities.

Previously, the Hai Phong City Department of Health also worked with the Hai Duong Center for Health Protection of Cadres on the situation, performance results and orientation of the development model in the coming time.

Hai Duong General Hospital has a scale of 1,050 beds. Currently, the hospital has 1,166 officers, civil servants and employees. In the first 6 months of 2025, the hospital examined more than 142,000 patients, treated nearly 32,200 inpatients, an increase of more than 4% over the same period in 2024. The hospital bed occupancy rate reached 92%.

Along with the advantages in professional activities, Hai Duong General Hospital faces difficulties in implementing medical and financial policies and mechanisms, and lacks high-quality human resources. Equipment is also lacking compared to the assigned standards and requirements for technical development and professional capacity.
