Graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1995, Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh worked at the clinic, Quang Xuong District Medical Center (now Quang Xuong General Hospital). In 2003, Dr. Thanh transferred to the Department of Functional Exploration, Provincial General Hospital. Always enthusiastic and passionate about his profession, constantly learning to improve his professional qualifications in examination and treatment, he continued to study for a master's degree in Gastroenterology at the Military Medical Academy. With his own efforts, Dr. Thanh was trusted by his superiors and appointed as Deputy Head of the Gastroenterology Department, then Head of the Gastroenterology Department.
With the core task of providing emergency care and treatment for patients with digestive diseases in Thanh Hoa province and Hua Phan province (Lao PDR), the Department of Gastroenterology has a large number of patients and complex emergency care. Dr. Thanh always sets an example and works with the department to perform well the tasks of emergency care, treatment, examination and consultation for patients. He always reminds, monitors, supervises and encourages staff to be highly self-aware in their work, to complete all work before the end of the working day, and to strictly follow professional regulations and regimes. Manage and use drugs, consumables, medical equipment, fixed assets and other assets in the department, ensuring savings, safety and avoiding waste. As a senior, Dr. Thanh is willing to share his experience and accumulate knowledge with young colleagues, especially guiding them to practice medical ethics and improve their attitude towards serving patients.
Doctor Thanh said: "Imbued with Uncle Ho's teaching: "A good doctor must be like a mother" and following the 12 regulations on medical ethics, I always try to study, improve, update my professional knowledge, constantly practice and improve my medical practice skills, communication skills with the aim of excellently completing the assigned functions and tasks. For me, once I have chosen the medical profession, I must take the patient as the center, always put medical ethics first and consider the patient as my own relative."
In the process of protecting and taking care of health and serving the people, Dr. Thanh always combines work with research, summarizes experience, and continually improves professional qualifications to apply scientific advances to practical work. At the same time, new initiatives have been applied in medical examination and treatment to help diagnose accurately and treat effectively, shortening treatment time and reducing treatment costs. Continuously from 2010 to present, Dr. Thanh has successfully researched many scientific methods, which have been successfully applied in medical examination and treatment, such as: Applying NICE classification in diagnosing colorectal polyps at Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital; endoscopic esophageal variceal ligation with rubber bands in the treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding due to increased portal venous pressure in patients with cirrhosis; clipping technique in the treatment of high gastrointestinal bleeding due to gastric and duodenal ulcers; endoscopic gastrointestinal polypectomy technique; treatment of liver cancer by radiofrequency ablation (RFA), splenic artery embolization in the treatment of cirrhosis with hypersplenism and thrombocytopenia, gastric vein embolization in the treatment of upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to gastric varices... In particular, Dr. Thanh was awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the initiative "Evaluation of the effectiveness of the Rotem test in the treatment of coagulation disorders in patients with cirrhosis, at the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital". These initiatives have brought many benefits to patients and contributed greatly to the success of treatment, and have been highly appreciated by colleagues and the groundswell scientific council.
Not only is he a dedicated physician, eager to apply new techniques in medical examination and treatment, Dr. Thanh is also a dedicated, visionary, enthusiastic and responsible leader in all his work. With his trust, in 2023, he was appointed as Deputy Director of the Provincial General Hospital. In his new position, he has actively advised and proposed to the hospital's board of directors to organize and implement application activities and develop many new and advanced techniques to meet the needs of medical examination and treatment and create for people to enjoy high-tech services, bringing trust and satisfaction to patients when coming for examination and treatment. Up to now, the Provincial General Hospital has successfully deployed many advanced and specialized techniques with breakthroughs in many fields; many difficult and critical cases have also been successfully resuscitated thanks to modern resuscitation techniques and timely and effective interventions.
With 30 years of dedication to the profession, with his constant efforts and hard work, Dr. Thanh was awarded the title of provincial emulation fighter and many Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Health. In 2020, Dr. Thanh was honored to be awarded the title of Meritorious Physician by the President; in 2022, he was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister. This is a recognition and a worthy reward for Dr. Thanh's dedication and tireless, silent contributions to the cause of protecting, caring for and improving people's health.
