On the afternoon of August 24, the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province sent an official dispatch to schools and educational institutions stating that they would not organize back-to-school activities on August 25 to ensure student safety.
The dispatch clearly stated that, after updating the developments of storm No. Kajiki, which is taking place with very strong intensity, moving quickly, is especially dangerous and is heading towards the Central region of our country; implementing the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes, wards, and heads of affiliated units to strictly implement the prohibition of organizing school opening activities on August 25 according to Decision No. 2864/QD-UBND.
From August 26, heads of educational institutions will proactively monitor the developments of Typhoon Kajiki and its circulation. Only when the safety of students is truly guaranteed will they organize back-to-school activities.
The Department of Education and Training assigned heads of educational institutions to deploy homeroom teachers to inform all parents of students about the above content and request families to manage their children at home to ensure safety during storms.
Units focused on responding to storm Kajiki and seriously implemented the direction of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense.
Previously, on August 23, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued the schedule for the 2025-2026 school year. According to the plan, the first day of school for preschools, general education, and continuing education institutions in the province is August 29; for grades 1, 9, and 12, the first day of school is August 25.
