Hanoi students finish school year before May 31, 2026

On August 26, the Hanoi People's Committee signed a decision to promulgate the framework for the 2025-2026 school year schedule for preschool education , general education and continuing education in Hanoi. (SEE HERE >>>)

According to the plan, students will return to school at least 1 week before the opening day. Grades 1, 9, and 12 will return to school at least 2 weeks before the opening day. The entire city will hold the opening ceremony on September 5, 2025 (Friday).

Finish semester I before January 18, 2026; complete the program and end the school year before May 31, 2026. Consider recognition of completion of primary school program and consider recognition of secondary school graduation before June 30, 2026.

Complete enrollment for first-level classes before July 31, 2026. The 2026 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place on June 11 and 12, 2026. Other national exams are organized according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Holidays and Tet holidays during the school year are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guidelines. Teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer vacation or can be arranged alternately at other times during the year to suit the specific characteristics and schedule of the school year.

The Director of the Department of Education and Training is responsible for directing all levels and sectors to strictly implement the 2025-2026 school year time plan framework. Advise and propose to the Chairman of the City People's Committee to decide on adjusting the school year time plan framework, school breaks and school year extensions in case of natural disasters and epidemics; for special cases that arise, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.

Decide and report to the City People's Committee to let students take time off from school in case of extreme weather, natural disasters and arrange make-up classes; ensure teachers' time off during the school year.

Report to the Ministry of Education and Training on the preparation for the school year and the organization of the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year before September 10, 2025; summarize the implementation of tasks and key solutions for the 2025-2026 school year and the results of implementing emulation criteria, and propose consideration of rewards for the school year before June 25, 2026.
