Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, former Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City National University, commented that the 2025 admission season is marked by significant changes in regulations with the aim of increasing fairness and reducing pressure on candidates. Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training has completely eliminated early admission, except for direct admission cases according to regulations, so that all candidates can participate in the admission process in a single round.
"These changes, although positive in terms of policy, pose a huge technical and operational challenge. Integrating data from many different sources (high school graduation exam scores, academic records, and competency assessment test results) into a common system has increased complexity and the risk of synchronization errors," said Dr. Nghia.
According to Dr. Nguyen Duc Nghia, the "common admission" regulation on a single system requires interaction and data synchronization between hundreds of universities and the Ministry of Education and Training in real time. A small error in updating data from one school or an error in the score conversion algorithm can also cause incorrect results for a series of wishes.
Dr. Nghia cited the case of a candidate who, although scoring 24.75 points, was enough to be admitted to his 5th choice, was not admitted because the general system "mistakenly reported" to the schools that he had been admitted to his 1st choice (the standard score was 25.94 points, he failed). In the end, the system displayed the result "Not admitted" for all choices.
These errors indicate that data about a candidate's admission status was mishandled or out of sync between system modules, leading to the candidate being "unfairly rejected" unreasonably.
Dr. Le Truong Tung, Chairman of the Board ofFPT University, said that this year's enrollment period has some limitations. Specifically:
The bonus points have been controlled by the 22.5 rule (the bonus points decrease when above 22.5 points), but the rule has not been applied to high bonus points (3/30).
The regulation for candidates to register too many wishes causes system interference. When candidates register an average of 9 wishes, 8 wishes will be fake, it is very difficult for schools to handle when the fake is many times more than the real, and one school's adjustment when filtering fake affects many other schools. The maximum number of wishes should be controlled, for example, a maximum of 5.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc ( Hanoi National University) analyzed the previous admission season, with the early admission method, schools had all the options and then uploaded them to the Ministry of Education and Training's software to filter out fake candidates. This year, the Ministry of Education and Training has done everything, the Ministry of Education and Training "embracing everything" led to having to filter out fake candidates many times. "The admission form is now multifaceted. Each change is slow and we have to "struggle" with such small changes all day long, so we need to consider it carefully" - Professor Duc stated his opinion.
