Foundation for developing Dong Nai literature and art

After the administrative boundary merger (Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai), Dong Nai literature and art not only increased sharply in the number of members in various fields, but also expanded the creative space for artists.

The gathering of a strong creative team is opening up new opportunities for artists and writers in the province to exchange and learn, creating a favorable foundation to develop Dong Nai's arts and literature in a more comprehensive, modern and closer to the public direction.

Expanding creative space

“Previously, I participated in many writing camps in Dong Nai as well as in the provinces and cities of the North, Central, and West... However, after the merger, I will have the opportunity to work together under the same roof of the Arts and Literature with artists from Binh Phuoc (old). It must be said that this is a larger and deeper “playground” with new energy and inspiration. I will have more opportunities to access new materials in my poetry” - poet Minh Ha shared.

Not only connecting and exchanging with individual artists, Dong Nai’s cultural and artistic activities are becoming a common activity, where writers, painters, photographers, musicians, etc. work together and exploit topics from many different perspectives. Dong Nai today is not only famous for its large industrial parks, Long Thanh Airport, fruit-laden orchards, or historical sites and scenic spots, but also has more than 200km of border, ethnic and religious diversity, etc., which have become valuable “living materials” for artists in the province.

Vice President of Dong Nai Province Literature and Arts Association Pham Hien said that before the merger, the Literature and Arts Associations of the two provinces had meetings to discuss the tasks and information on the activities of each unit. The Binh Phuoc Literature and Arts Association (old) has 300 members, operating in 9 fields. After the merger, the association plans to organize joint activities so that Dong Nai artists have the opportunity to exchange, participate in creative field trips, as well as develop new topics.

“We believe that, with a large and dynamic membership, Dong Nai’s literary and artistic activities will continue to develop strongly, opening up more opportunities for creative work. For example, in the past, members of the Binh Phuoc (old) association had few opportunities to access the lands and people of Dong Nai (old); on the contrary, many Dong Nai (old) authors have not yet deeply exploited the topics of borders, border posts, ethnic minority areas or key agricultural areas in Binh Phuoc. These areas are a valuable source of inspiration, promising to create many quality works,” said Mr. Hien.

Dong Nai's cultural and artistic space is expanding in both scope and depth, and its cultural and artistic potential is very rich. This will contribute to creating conditions for exhibitions, exchanges, performances, and art performances to be flexibly organized by region, suitable to the characteristics of each residential area. Many works are not only limited to the stage, exhibitions or printed books, but have gradually appeared on digital platforms, social networks, and local television channels. This is an important premise for cultural and artistic activities to get closer to the community, especially in localities that previously had little access to professional art.

Creating momentum to promote the development of literature and art

The new platform after the merger is opening up a period of potential development for Dong Nai Literature and Arts. However, to take advantage of this opportunity, in addition to the dynamism of the artists, Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association has been promoting the organization of professional activities, and at the same time has a policy of practical support for the creative force, especially young authors and works of high artistic value.

According to Vice President of Dong Nai Province Literature and Arts Association Pham Van Hoang, in recent times, the association has paid special attention to young creative forces. Many creative camps, professional skills training courses, and competitions for young authors have been organized to discover and introduce promising faces, creating conditions for them to test themselves in a professional environment, shape their creative style, and pursue topics with social depth...

Vice President of Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association PHAM VAN HOANG said that after the merger, the association has nearly 600 members, operating in the fields of literature, music, fine arts, photography, theater, folk arts... Previously, Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association (old) had 7 majors, Binh Phuoc (old) had 9 majors, but after the merger, the association has nearly 12 majors. With a strong force of artists, it promises to create a new look for the province's cultural and artistic life.

Mr. Hoang emphasized: “In August, the association will organize a creative practice session for young authors in specialized departments in Binh Phuoc (old) and Binh Thuan (now Lam Dong province). Creating conditions for young people to confidently and systematically enter the life of literature and arts will not only help them shape their writing style, but also contribute to building a solid team of successors for Dong Nai literature and arts in the future.”

Along with expanding creative space and caring for the next generation, Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association is focusing on improving the quality of works, widely introducing them to all classes of people, expanding cooperation and exchange with other literature and arts associations in the region and across the country... Thereby, creating more opportunities to promote and spread the image, people and culture of Dong Nai to the domestic and international public.
