McAtee is a star of the England U21 team. |
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester City are selling midfielder James McAtee for £20-25m. After leading England U21s to Euro U21 glory this summer, McAtee is desperate for more first-team football, but manager Pep Guardiola cannot guarantee it.
A fee of £20-25 million is considered reasonable for McAtee, as he only has one year left on his contract with the Etihad team. Guardiola once admitted about McAtee: "Regarding his age, I want him to stay. But I understand that players want more minutes."
McAtee made just three Premier League starts last season, clocking up just 343 minutes of action. Despite his limited opportunities, McAtee still managed to impress, scoring seven goals in nine appearances in all competitions, including an impressive hat-trick against Salford City in the FA Cup.
Several clubs in the Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A are interested in McAtee, with Atalanta, Everton and Leeds United all being potential destinations for the midfielder.
Up to this point in the summer transfer market, Man City has said goodbye to Kyle Walker, Kevin de Bruyne and Yan Couto, helping to bring in nearly 20 million pounds in transfer fees.
