"Ma da" - the film starring Viet Huong - grossed nearly 114 billion VND, becoming the best-selling Vietnamese horror film of all time.

On the morning of August 30, the producer's representative said that the film achieved a new record after two weeks of showing. According to Box Office Vietnam - an independent box office monitoring unit, the film overcome Demon Dog - the work previously held the record with 108 billion VND. However, Demon Dog It took more than a month to reach the hundred billion revenue mark.

Ghost through many milestones to conquer the box office. On the first day of release, the film earned more than 15 billion VND. After a week, the project sold one million tickets, reaching 80 billion VND. Director Nguyen Huu Hoang said he was moved when his first work created a good effect. "When it was first released, we encountered many doubts that the film would have a hard time surpassing 50 billion VND to break even, because it was shown during the market's lowest point of the year," he said.

Ghost is the fourth Vietnamese film to reach the hundred billion mark this year, after Tomorrow (Tran Thanh) - 520 billion VND, Flip Side 7 (Ly Hai) - 482 billion VND, Meet Ms. Bau again (Nhat Trung) - 105 billion VND including foreign countries. In addition to Vietnamese theaters, the film was released at the same time in Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.

A Box Office representative commented that the film is a rare project that attracts attention during the summer - usually a quiet period for Vietnamese films. The unit said that Ghost Has an audience because of choosing the right release time, not much competition.

The film is inspired by spiritual legends in the river area, revolving around Mrs. Le (Viet Huong), who specializes in retrieving bodies of people who have had accidents in the Nam Can mangrove forest. After her husband passed away, she raised her daughter - Nhung (Da Chuc) - alone to study. Despite many people's objections because the job is dangerous, Mrs. Le still searches for drowned bodies. Nhung suddenly disappears when she becomes the target of a supernatural force. The main character's search for her child reveals details about the "ghost" - the soul of a betrayed girl.

Despite the good setting and character design, the film has some script errors and unreasonable details. Many viewers said that the ending was disappointing because the details were not convincing.

The film also attracted attention with the noisy "cutting of time" of artist Thanh Loc and singer Cam Ly - two faces that had been interested in before. Thanh Loc transformed into a shaman named Luong, helping Mrs. Le find her daughter when she was kidnapped by a mysterious force. Cam Ly played Mrs. Lai - a mother who had an accident when her son died from drowning. On August 17, the representative of the crew - producer Nhat Trung - apologized to the two actors.
