Recently, Ha Tinh Rehabilitation Hospital has received many pediatric patients with psychological disorders for treatment.
When children come to the clinic, they often have one of the following symptoms: slow speech, little talk, blinking, shrugging, frowning, shaking head, sighing, mumbling, clearing throat, screaming... Through family history, in addition to genetic factors, many children are addicted to watching phones and TV at home.

NQT (6 years old, residing in Ha Linh commune) was treated at Ha Tinh Rehabilitation Hospital with symptoms of delayed speech. It is known that T. was able to speak before, but recently, the patient has shown signs of speaking less, speaking slowly, and often losing concentration.
According to the patient's mother, because both husband and wife are often busy with work, when the child comes home from school, they allow him to turn on the TV to watch. At first, the child was still normal, but later on, he talked less and less, and in class, he did not communicate with his friends and was very distracted, so the family took him to the hospital for treatment advice.

Doctor Nguyen Thi Ha - Deputy Head of Pediatrics Department, Ha Tinh Rehabilitation Hospital said: "Letting children watch too much TV and use phones greatly affects the development process, because TV and phones are mainly one-way communication, without interaction with children. One of the most obvious effects is that children's language and communication will become increasingly weaker. When suffering from language and psychological disorders, learning will decline, children will lack activity and have difficulty establishing social relationships as well as handling situations... All of these factors will become psychological sequelae that make it difficult for children to develop themselves."
Nowadays, phones, tablets, and televisions are always considered as "saviors" for parents in comforting their children and creating time for themselves to work. Even phones and televisions have become tools to comfort children in eating and drinking. This has created a bad habit and pushed children into "addiction" to watching phones and televisions, causing psychological and health disorders. The worrying thing is that although children show symptoms, many parents do not promptly recognize them. When psychological disorders occur for a long time and become serious, treatment becomes very difficult.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Ha, the effectiveness of treatment for children with psychological disorders depends largely on early detection of the child's disorders for intervention. In addition to the advice and intervention of doctors, the most important thing is that the family needs to have close coordination in improving the living environment. Families need to immediately stop "relying" on phones, iPads, and internet-connected TVs to comfort and look after their children. Send children to school early and actively participate in cultural, artistic, sports , community activities, and experiences so that children can interact and integrate.
When children use television or phones, adults must watch with them to explain and interact with them, instead of letting them interact with the device alone. In particular, parents need to spend time with their children, be with them, and play with them. In the coming time, the hospital will strengthen communication about the risk of psychological disorders in children so that parents can grasp and detect early symptoms of disorders. Actively advise groups of parents on solutions to coordinate treatment and intervention at home to improve treatment effectiveness.
