Meanwhile, the Project Incubator not only helps develop and support young Asian talents but is also a space for learning, exchange and connection between filmmakers and producers, investors and distributors looking for promising projects.
At the closing ceremony, the organizers announced that the Mylab award for arthouse projects was given to The Young Theorist's Club (Director: Dam Quang Trung, producer Vu Hoang Trieu - co-producer Vuong Quoc). Meanwhile, the Genre Project award with a value of 5,000 USD from the American Cinema Association was given to Flying Cows (Director: Nguyen Pham Thanh Dat, producer Nguyen Huu Thi Tuong Vi). The Arthouse Project award presented by the French Embassy went to Ghost of the Currents by director Itt Patiparn Boontarig, co-director Kalil Pitsuwan and producer Napakarn Boontarig.
“Projects that are awarded prizes by the French National Cinema Agency (CNC) or the American Cinema Association (MPA) will have an easier time moving forward, to ‘knock on the door’ of other support funds or investors. Right at the Project Incubator, there are also a number of representatives of funds or international project markets who come to attend and can choose the projects they like. While the State has not yet established a fund to support film development, the Project Incubator is useful for young filmmakers,” Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan shared.
