The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment works with Nghe An province to focus on completing the Phase 1 of the Ban Mong Reservoir Project.

On the morning of July 11, a working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep had a meeting with the People's Committee of Nghe An province to focus on completing the phase 1 of the Ban Mong Reservoir Project.

Attending the meeting were comrade Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and related departments, branches and localities.

The Mong Reservoir Project has a total investment of 5,552 billion VND. Nghe An province is assigned to carry out 2 tasks: building a pumping station system, a pumping station channel to take water from Hieu River and the compensation, resettlement and site clearance component.

Up to now, Co Ba Lake (Chau Binh Commune) has completed site clearance below elevation +71.86m and above elevation +71.86m, with an expected recovery of 390 hectares.

Currently, the Project Management Board has completed the inventory of about 3,496 plots, approved 2 phases with the amount of 23.9 billion VND, recovered more than 27 hectares of production land in Quy Chau and Chau Binh communes and is waiting for instructions to establish a compensation and site clearance council after the 2-level local government comes into operation.

Nghia Mai commune has 40.75 hectares and Tam Hop commune has 6.12 hectares of reservoir area that have completed the counting, pricing, and documentation work.

Currently, the construction of auxiliary dam 1 has been basically completed, the closed volume has been filled to the dam crest elevation of +81.2m, ensuring safety during flood season, and it is expected to complete this entire item before July 30, 2025.

Currently, the units are constructing auxiliary dam 3, striving to complete construction beyond the elevation of +76.40m by July 30, 2025 to ensure flood prevention during the main season.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De said that Nghe An province is currently directing construction units and localities to closely coordinate to focus on implementing the remaining items of the project; requesting the Investment and Construction Management Board of Irrigation Works 4 to closely coordinate with Nghe An province in preparing for the inauguration ceremony of the headworks of the Mong Reservoir Project to be held on August 19. Requesting the consulting unit to review the water level and localized flooding areas.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep acknowledged the efforts of Nghe An province and related units in implementing the Mong Reservoir Project in recent times. In the coming time, Nghe An province and the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Irrigation Works 4 need to review and recalculate the flood level, and pay attention to safety work in natural disaster prevention and control.

The Ministry allows the Management Board to re-establish markers for 13 areas related to infrastructure, residential areas, and production land areas to detail areas that need site clearance; Calculate the frequency to manage natural disaster risks for areas that are likely to experience natural disasters for production land, residential land, etc.
