This morning, June 29, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued Official Dispatch No. 3790 requesting Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company to open two more bottom spillway gates to ensure reservoir safety according to the inter-reservoir operation process in the Red River basin. Accordingly, the second bottom spillway gate will be opened at 12:00 and the third gate will be opened at 18:00 on the same day.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, at 7:00 a.m., the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang Lake reached 107.26 m and the downstream water level was 52.32 m. The water flow into the lake reached 1,732 m³/s while the total discharge to the downstream was only 1,233 m³/s. In order to bring the upstream water level back to 105.2 m, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requested additional discharge to reduce the pressure on the reservoir.

On the same day, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep signed an official dispatch to the People's Committees of Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc provinces and Hanoi, requesting timely notification to riverside residents, aquaculture facilities, ferry terminals, construction sites and water transport units to proactively respond and prevent damage. Localities are required to promptly report any situations arising during the flood discharge process.

Previously, the first bottom spillway gate of Tuyen Quang hydroelectric reservoir opened at 2:00 p.m. on June 27.
