At the workshop, delegates focused on evaluating the results of bringing culinary cultural elements into tourism services; selecting and promoting Thai ethnic cultural elements into the community tourism model in Con Cuong.
On the morning of December 13, in Con Cuong district, the Department of Science and Technology and the People's Committee of Con Cuong district organized a scientific workshop on "Building, selecting and promoting Thai ethnic elements in the community tourism model in Con Cuong".
Attending the conference were representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications , Vietnamese culinary artists; representatives of departments and branches of Nghe An province, Con Cuong District People's Committee and representatives of some homestays in the area. Comrade Nguyen Khac Lam - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology and Comrade Lo Van Thao - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of Con Cuong District People's Committee chaired the conference.
According to the report, Con Cuong is a mountainous district with 7 ethnic groups living together, of which the Thai ethnic group accounts for 75%. Con Cuong is one of the leading localities in developing community tourism models associated with preserving traditional cultural values in Nghe An.
Currently, in Con Cuong, there are 4 Thai community tourism villages: Nua village (Yen Khe commune), Khe Ran village (Bong Khe commune), Xieng village (Mon Son commune) and Na Pha village (Yen Khe commune). Of which, 3 community tourism villages are recognized as 3-star OCOP.
The Thai people in Con Cuong district have many unique cultural features, preserving a rich indigenous knowledge: folk song and dance knowledge, folk medicine knowledge, culinary knowledge, traditional handicraft knowledge... These cultural elements are the potential for Con Cuong to exploit cultural values in sustainable livelihood development.
In order to exploit the intellectual values of the Thai ethnic group in developing community tourism, in 2024, the Department of Science and Technology assigned the Center for Social Sciences and Humanities to coordinate with the People's Committee of Con Cuong district to organize the implementation of the task: Building, selecting and promoting Thai ethnic cultural elements in the community tourism model of Con Cuong district.
The goal of the mission is to build a model to promote indigenous knowledge in cuisine and culinary space to meet the needs of domestic and foreign tourists when coming to Con Cuong.
At the workshop, the group representative reported on the results of the implementation in the past time. Accordingly, the group conducted a survey and selected culinary elements and indigenous knowledge to incorporate into the community tourism model; using indigenous knowledge (brocade products, weaving products, weaving techniques, indigenous materials), and designing and building a space for culinary practice.
Design and build a model of culinary practice space for 2 households to do homestay model; build culinary menu; train culinary practice; build culinary videos to promote Con Cuong tourism...
At the workshop, delegates focused on evaluating the results of bringing culinary cultural elements into tourism services; discussing solutions to promote culinary values, introduce domestic and foreign friends to the cuisine of the Thai people in Con Cuong; orienting communication, exploiting and developing community tourism in Con Cuong towards the goal of building Con Cuong to meet the criteria of a type 4 urban area in the direction of sustainable eco-tourism.
Before that, the delegates visited and experienced some famous landscapes and culinary spaces, with dishes imbued with Thai identity at the community tourism village of Ban Nua, Yen Khe commune.
