The British Council Study Award 2025 is not only a scholarship program but also a meaningful community activity, demonstrating the British Council's strong commitment to accompanying the Vietnamese Government on the journey to make English a second language.
Ms. Gemma Thompson, Academic Director of English Language Programs, British Council in Vietnam: This scholarship is not simply financial support for potential students who do not have the opportunity to access international standard English programs, but is also part of a long-term commitment to foster a passion for learning and develop foreign language skills in a sustainable way for the young generation of Vietnam.
With a total value of up to 250 million VND, the British Council's teaching center will award 10 scholarships to students from primary to high school, currently residing in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Each scholarship includes 64 hours of completely free English lessons at one of the British Council's 9 modern teaching centers.
In particular, the selected students will become "Little Ambassadors" of the British Council - representing the spirit of active learning, contributing to spreading the love of English in the community.
The unique and humane aspect of this scholarship selection process is that it emphasizes personal suitability and motivation rather than just academic achievement or existing English ability.
The program focuses on each student’s potential, passion for learning and personal story. Students can submit their sharing in Vietnamese or English, with support from their parents if they are young.
Candidates with the most outstanding sharing will be invited to participate in a live interview round with the judging panel. The selection criteria and interview questions will be appropriate for each age group, ensuring that there is no pressure on students, helping them express themselves in the most natural and comfortable way.
Applications for the British Council Study Award 2025 are now open until 15 July 2025. The scholarship journey consists of two rounds:
- Round 1: Students or parents submit an application and introduce their child's story through a short essay of up to 300 words.
- Round 2: Students participate in a direct interview with the judges.
