This is the first step in adjusting the force after the number of U22 Vietnam players increased to 36 with the addition of midfielder Nguyen Quoc Viet (Phu Dong Ninh Binh ). After the recent training period in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, U22 Vietnam players said goodbye to 8. These players returned to the club on the afternoon of July 6 to prepare for the new season.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U22 team will continue to train in Ba Ria-Vung Tau until July 12. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will go to Indonesia on July 14 to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. Before departure, the team list will continue to be reduced to 23 players according to regulations.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will take place from July 15-29 in Indonesia. The Vietnam U23 team will meet Laos U23 on July 19 and Cambodia U23 on July 22. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will participate as defending champions, aiming to continue to be crowned the top.
This is also an important step for U22 Vietnam to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games taking place at the end of the year in Thailand. This year's regional conference is expected to be full of challenges for Vietnamese football and sports .
