U.23 Vietnam has 28 players left

After 10 days of training and two practice matches with U.23 Taiwan at Ba Ria Stadium (HCMC), Coach Kim Sang-sik decided to reduce the list of U.23 Vietnam to 28 players. This is the first step in adjusting the team's force before the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 Championship.

Previously, on the first day of the meeting, U.23 Vietnam had a personnel addition when midfielder Nguyen Quoc Viet ( Ninh Binh Club) was summoned, bringing the total number of players on the list to 36 people.

After a period of professional evaluation through training sessions and two internal practice matches, the coaching staff decided to say goodbye to 8 players including: Nguyen Quang Vinh (SLNA), Nguyen Dang Duong (The Cong Viettel ), Le Dinh Long Vu (SLNA), Dinh Xuan Tien (SLNA), Nguyen Le Phat (PVF), Le Van Thuan (Thanh Hoa), Nguyen Bao Long (PVF), Dinh Quang Kiet (HAGL).

Notably, Le Van Thuan won the V-League best young player award with 2 goals in 16 matches last season, but the young star of Thanh Hoa still could not stay because he could not convince coach Kim Sang-sik.

Yesterday afternoon (July 6), the group of 8 players above returned to their home clubs to prepare for the new season, while waiting for the opportunity to participate in the next training sessions, towards the 2026 U.23 Asian qualifiers as well as the 33rd SEA Games.

According to the plan, U.23 Vietnam will continue to practice in Ho Chi Minh City until July 12. After that, the team will move to Tan Son Nhat to prepare for the flight to Indonesia on the morning of July 14, officially entering the journey to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 Championship.
