Revealing the person who poisoned the group, the poison is stronger than cyanide

Khaosod (Thailand) reported that the press conference took place at Lumpini police station. Police Major General Thiradej Thammasuthee, commander of the Metropolitan Police Department's Investigation Division, said that last night the police questioned the daughter of one of the six dead people and many other witnesses.

Based on this information, the police now suspect that Ms. Sherine Chong (56 years old, with an American passport) poisoned 5 people in the group, then committed suicide by drinking poison. It is likely that the drug used was stronger than cyanide.

The police also believe that the motive for the crime is related to debt, and there is no other motive. Therefore, the perpetrator most likely had no contact with anyone other than the group of 6 people mentioned above. Checking the activities in and out of the room also showed that there were only these 6 people.

According to police, Sherine Chong is the daughter of another victim in the group. Immigration records show that she has been in and out of Thailand five times. Khaosod reported that she is “in debt.”

Police have confirmed that the drinks found near the six dead were laced with a powerful poison. The exact nature of the poison will be announced this afternoon, but initial tests indicate it is similar to cyanide but more potent, causing the victims to die quickly.

The gruesome crime was discovered on the evening of July 16, when the victims may have died within the previous 24 hours. All six bodies were found in a room on the 5th floor of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in central Bangkok.

Hotel staff discovered the incident after the group of guests were more than 24 hours late checking out. Initial police investigations ruled out robbery. The bodies showed no signs of assault. Police believe one of the victims tried to reach the door of the room but collapsed, according to CNN.

Information about "the seventh person"

Regarding the information about the seventh person who booked a hotel room, the Thai Immigration Department has traced this person to the sister of one of the victims. She flew back to the country on July 10 and was initially confirmed to be unrelated to the case.
