This year’s U.S. Navy Global Maritime Exercise will include Canada, Japan and NATO member states for the first time. The exercise is designed to practice command and control between U.S. Navy units and with allies and partners.
Large Scale Exercise (LSE) 2025, scheduled to take place later this summer, is the third iteration of the US Navy's global maritime exercise.

Unlike other military exercises, this is the first time the US Navy has tested the entire force at once to assess the performance of Navy and Marine Corps units when the US is pushed into a global conflict.
"Our exercise control team has nearly 900 people and runs the exercise all over the world at the same time," said Rear Admiral Kenneth Blackmon, the exercise commander.

Officials did not disclose specific details of the scenario presented to commanders. LSE 2025 will involve all of the Navy’s numbered fleets (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 10th) along with the combatant commands in Europe and Africa, and the Pacific Fleet, as well as their respective Marine Corps units, said Capt. Chris Narducci, the chief planner for the exercise.
An important aspect of LSE events is the use of real, virtual forces in the construction of exercise scenarios. Real forces are ships, submarines and aircraft physically present in their areas of responsibility to carry out assigned missions.
