RT reported that the Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a nearly hour-long phone call with his US counterpart Donald Trump on July 3. This was the sixth phone call this year between the two Russian and US leaders.
During the phone call, the two Russian and US leaders discussed the Ukraine conflict and potential solutions.

President Putin reiterated that Moscow will continue to seek a diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflict but will not ignore its root causes.
The two leaders did not discuss a potential meeting and instead focused on a range of other issues, including the recent escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran, developments in Syria and the situation in the Middle East.
The Russian and US presidents also discussed the implementation of agreements reached by Moscow and Kiev during direct negotiations in Istanbul (Türkiye) over the past months.
Since President Trump returned to the White House in January 2025, he has spoken to President Putin six times. Discussions have focused on efforts to negotiate an end to the Ukraine conflict, arms control, and restoring bilateral relations.
Earlier, in a phone call on June 14, the two Russian and US leaders discussed Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities as well as retaliation from Tehran.
