Young people 'explode' with a series of financial management seminars for students

At the workshop, leading experts shared practical experiences and useful tools to help young people build a solid financial foundation while still in school.

With the theme "Financial Freedom for Generation Z - From Surviving to Living Fully", the series of seminars took place successfully at the International University (October 12), the University of Economics and Law (October 13) and the Dormitory of Ho Chi Minh City National University (October 19), attracting more than 1,000 students to participate directly and 3,500 students to participate online. This event is the result of cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association, the Ho Chi Minh City National University Youth Union Executive Committee and the companionship of Home Credit Vietnam.

At each seminar, experts answer students’ questions about how to plan personal finances, build a stable source of income, and spend wisely. Real-life stories help young people become more confident in managing their finances.

Another topic that has created a “storm” of discussion is the difficulty in managing finances. According to experts, many Gen Zers have difficulty because they do not plan and prioritize their spending. To move towards personal financial independence, experts say that students need to focus on overcoming the “survival” stage and start saving.

At the same time, each person needs to build for themselves intangible assets such as knowledge, skills, and networks. When about to graduate, making a specific financial plan is a necessary step to prepare for the future.

Mr. Vo Kim Long, Head of Loan Products and Value Added Services at Home Credit Vietnam - the program's partner, said that popularizing financial knowledge for students is necessary to help them understand and use financial products effectively; thereby, helping to build a sustainable financial foundation for individuals and contributing to the development of a healthy consumer finance market. Financial institutions play an important role in providing information and supporting young customers in this process.

Not only attracting students from the host universities, the event also received much attention from students from neighboring universities such as the University of Information Technology, the University of Science and Technology, and the Open University. Students also shared about their current sources of income and how they manage their personal finances.
