On the morning of July 4, the price of gold bars at Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) decreased by 400,000 VND, down to 118.9 million VND/tael for buying and 120.9 million VND for selling. Only the price of 4-number-9 gold rings at SJC remained unchanged with a buying price of 114.5 million VND and a selling price of 117 million VND.

The price of gold rings has not changed much at other companies such as PNJ still buys at 114.8 million VND, sells at 117.4 million VND/tael; Doji buys at 116 million VND, sells at 118 million VND... Bao Tin Minh Chau alone reduces 200,000 VND when buying gold rings at 116 million VND, sells at 119 million VND. This is still the highest selling price of gold rings on the market.

World gold prices turned down to below the threshold of 3,300 USD/ounce. At the beginning of the day, world gold was trading around 3,327 USD/ounce, down nearly 25 USD compared to yesterday. Converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, world gold price is equivalent to 105.6 million VND/tael (excluding tax and fees). Although world gold decreased, SJC stood still, so each tael of gold bar was 15.3 million VND more expensive than the world, higher than yesterday.

The US economy added 147,000 jobs in June, the Labor Department said, beating economists' forecasts for a gain of 110,000. The stronger-than-expected jobs data reinforced expectations that the Federal Reserve would be less likely to cut interest rates as soon as previously expected, boosting the dollar and reducing the appeal of precious metals.

Investors now see a 53% chance of the Fed cutting rates later this year, starting in October, rather than expecting a cut at its meeting later this month. However, as US debt levels continue to rise, investors may become increasingly concerned about the greenback, which could benefit gold in the long run, Carsten Menke, an analyst at Julius Baer, told CNBC.
