Youth with school
Mr. Nguyen Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Tra Giap Commune Youth Union, said: “This summer, the youth of the whole commune launched the Youth Volunteer campaign, mobilizing 50 members to accompany the schools. The young people contributed to repairing and decorating Son Tra Kindergarten (village 3), the farthest school, almost isolated from the commune center; renovating the classrooms of Mang Non Kindergarten; renovating the kitchen and vegetable garden for teachers…”.
These actions, though small, create more motivation for teachers and students to enter the new school year with an excited spirit.
Principal of Son Tra Kindergarten, Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Hang, emotionally shared: “With the help of the union members, the school has more classrooms and auxiliary items have been renovated and basically repaired. With the conditions of a mountainous area like Tra Giap, that is a great source of encouragement.”
At Chu Huy Man Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, preparations were also carefully carried out.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Cuong, the school’s principal, said: “We have repaired the kitchen, the dormitory, renovated the lobby and organized a school festival. In addition to arranging classes, we started with sports competitions and folk games to encourage students to come to class, creating a vibrant atmosphere before the new school year.”
Many difficulties need to be resolved
Tra Giap commune, after merging from the two old communes of Tra Ka and Tra Giap, currently has 5 schools, 3 levels of education, 63 classes with about 1,550 students, mainly Ca Dong and Co ethnic people. The staff, teachers and employees are 153 people, many of whom will be assigned to work at remote satellite schools.
According to Mr. Ho Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Tra Giap Commune People's Committee: "The 2025-2026 school year is the first school year without direct management from the District Department of Education and Training. Education is now decentralized to manage the vertical expertise of the Department of Education and Training, while the commune is managed through direct consultation with the Department of Culture and Society . This is a new model, so the commune and schools are still confused, while the area is large, there are many remote schools, and the facilities are lacking."
According to Mr. Dung, the Commune People's Committee has reported many shortcomings to the city such as part-time teachers not receiving appropriate benefits; class sizes exceeding standards, classrooms being cramped; lack of primary school teachers; telecommunications and internet infrastructure not meeting requirements; benefits for preschool teachers and boarding staff are still low; the lunch support for preschool children is only 160,000 VND/month, making it difficult to ensure a minimum meal.
With the proactive spirit of teachers and the community's cooperation, schools in Tra Giap are ready for the new school year.
From socialized resources, on the occasion of the opening ceremony this year, many poor students will be supported with scholarships, bicycles, pens, notebooks, and clothes.
In particular, Military School of Military Region 5 will award scholarships to 16 poor students, each student 1.2 million VND/year in the program "Helping you go to school".
With the determination from the government, teachers, union members, parents and the community, the new school year in Tra Giap promises to start with the faith, solidarity and aspiration of the children in the highlands.
