Contribute many good values to life

The comprehensive economic model of member Truong Van Khoa, Thieu Toan commune was visited and studied by veterans.

Leaving the fierce battlefield, leaving the army to retire for many years, but the love for the history of the nation in the heart of Colonel Luong Sy Vui, Nam Sam Son ward has never cooled down. That is why for the past 17 years, he has tirelessly "fueled" the tradition for many generations, so that the golden pages of history of the nation always shine. Veteran Luong Sy Vui confided: "Traditional education plays an important role, especially when information technology and social networks develop rapidly, strongly affecting the lives of young people. As someone who directly fought with guns in the fierce Quang Tri battlefield, I want to do something meaningful, which is to spend 15 to 20 sessions each year to talk about tradition at schools to foster revolutionary ideals for the young generation".

Veteran Luong Sy Vui is a typical example in traditional education - an outstanding activity of the emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans". In the long resistance wars to protect the Fatherland, the Vietnamese people have written heroic epics of victory, echoing throughout the ages. Along with the flow of national history, the land of Thanh Hoa, rich in revolutionary traditions, has also contributed very proud pages of history. To "pass on the fire" of revolution and foster confidence in the younger generation, over the past 5 years (2019-2024), the Veterans Association at all levels in the province has organized 1,522 traditional talks with 288,145 union members, youth, students and pupils participating. Through the authentic, engaging and emotional stories conveyed by those who have been through life and death, Thanh Hoa's youth have deeply and fully felt the "golden history" sparkling with the feats of our army and people. Thereby, arousing the pride and responsibility of young people towards their homeland and country.

To multiply the good deeds for comrades, Thanh Hoa War Veterans Association has launched the movement "Eliminating dilapidated houses for families of war veterans with housing difficulties". Accordingly, each cadre and war veteran member contributes 24,000 VND/year, those who have the means can support more to build the fund. With a large number of cadres and members of more than 21,000 people, over the past 5 years, the whole province has contributed and mobilized benefactors to support the renovation and repair of 486 houses, with a total support amount of more than 23 billion VND and nearly 30,000 working days from members.

As a recent recipient of a gratitude house, veteran Dinh The Than, Hoang Hoa commune, emotionally shared: “Many years ago, my small house had to struggle against the rain and sun. Due to the consequences of war, I was often sick, and my old age made building a house impossible. With the support of 80 million VND from the Veterans Association, along with support from relatives, the “CVD Gratitude” house was soon completed. Words are not enough for me to express my gratitude to the cadres, members of the Veterans Association in the commune and my neighbors. It is true that in times of difficulty, we can see the full gratitude of our comrades. I would like to thank the Veterans Association - a truly united, dedicated and responsible association.”

Always carrying the will and steadfast qualities of a "Uncle Ho's Army", so despite their old age and not being as strong as before, many Thanh Hoa war veterans are still exemplary in developing their family economy and contributing to the development of the locality. With 268 "War Veterans Clubs helping each other develop the economy", the whole province has attracted 3,797 members to help each other with capital, production and business experience, product consumption markets, building production chains... Along with nearly 3,000 billion VND entrusted from the Social Policy Bank and other capital sources, thousands of war veterans have received loans to develop production and business. Currently, the province has more than 700 small and medium enterprises, 230 cooperatives, nearly 1,500 farms, more than 5,000 family farms, nearly 7,000 service business households owned by War Veterans Association members, creating regular jobs for more than 61,000 workers. Over the past 5 years, the province has had 2,746 War Veterans households become well-off and rich, bringing the rate of well-off and rich War Veterans households to 60.14%, higher than the provincial average.

With the motto "Where there are movements, there is the Veterans Association; where there is the Veterans Association, there are movement activities", the Thanh Hoa Veterans Association has taken the lead in implementing movements and campaigns launched by the Central and the province. Typically, in the movement "War veterans join hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", cadres and members of the War veterans association in the province voluntarily donated tens of thousands of square meters of land and contributed tens of billions of VND to build roads and welfare works. The movement "All people protect national security" has been widely deployed with many specific models. The War veterans movement participating in ensuring security, order and traffic safety has also received many letters of thanks from the people and victims, and is known and studied in many places across the country. The movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" has actively contributed to implementing a new lifestyle, fighting superstition and illegal proselytizing.

Closing 5 years of implementing the emulation movement "Exemplary war veterans", many collectives and individuals have been awarded the Labor Medal, Excellent Emulation Flag and many Certificates of Merit by the State, Government, Central Committee of Vietnam War Veterans Association, Provincial People's Committee. This is a source of pride and a worthy recognition for the efforts of Thanh Hoa War Veterans Association cadres and members. Thereby affirming that: Whether in wartime or in peacetime, those war veterans always uphold the spirit of solidarity and the will to rise up, contributing many good values to life.
