Attending the ceremony were Malaysian Foreign Minister, Mr. Mohamad bin Haji Hasan; Deputy President of the Senate, Mr. Nur Jazlan bin Tan Sri Mohamed; along with many representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations and overseas Vietnamese in Malaysia.
According to a VNA reporter in Kuala Lumpur, speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh reviewed the heroic historical milestones of the nation, from the moment President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, to the journey to become one of the top 40 economies in the world.
The Ambassador emphasized that under the leadership of the Party and Government, Vietnam is entering the "Era of National Growth" with the goal of becoming a center of innovation, ranked in the world's top 30 in digital competitiveness and e-government by 2030.
This era focuses on breakthrough development, bringing the country to a new position in the international community, based on maximizing internal resources, especially science, technology and innovation.
Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh also affirmed that Vietnam is making efforts to develop a green economy, digital transformation and aim for zero net emissions by 2050.
He appreciated the countries and partners that have accompanied Vietnam over the past 80 years.
Vietnam's goal by 2030 is to be in the top 3 in Southeast Asia in artificial intelligence (AI) research, top 30 in the world in digital competitiveness and e-government, and a gathering place for world-class technology enterprises.
On this occasion, Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh also recalled the important milestone in Vietnam - Malaysia relations when the two countries upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2024.
He affirmed that Vietnam is proud to be Malaysia's only comprehensive strategic partner in Southeast Asia.
On the Malaysian side, Foreign Minister Mohamad bin Haji Hasan sent warm congratulations on Vietnam's National Day. Minister Mohamad and Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh performed the cake cutting ceremony together, demonstrating the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
As a child living far away from home, Ms. Ma Ri Dam, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Cham community in Malaysia, emotionally shared that she was really moved to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, the day President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
She expressed her happiness at witnessing the glory and heroism of our nation, and expressed her wish that Vietnam would become increasingly stronger and stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.
Meanwhile, Ms. Dinh Thu Ha, an overseas Vietnamese in Malaysia, expressed her pride in witnessing the development of the country as well as the growth of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.
Many Malaysian guests expressed their joy and special affection for Vietnam. Vietnamese history and culture researcher - Professor Ruhanas Harun at the National Defense University of Malaysia said she was truly touched to be invited to attend the celebration to share the joy with Vietnamese friends.
She commented that it is important to always remember the struggle for independence because it is a source of pride in the country's historical tradition.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lee Yon Siang from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah said he was very impressed with the atmosphere of the ceremony. This helped him understand more about Vietnamese culture such as traditional costumes and wonderful Vietnamese cuisine.
The ceremony took place in a solemn and cozy atmosphere. International friends were able to see a photo exhibition about the country and people of Vietnam, as well as admire the graceful Ao Dai performance and enjoy special performances and traditional Vietnamese dishes./.
