Large-scale fire fighting, rescue and relief drills

On the morning of June 27, the Steering Committee for Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue of Quang Ngai province organized a large-scale fire fighting and rescue drill at the Biscafun Confectionery Factory of Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company. The drill mobilized many specialized and on-site forces, modern technical equipment, and the coordination of relevant departments, branches and units.

In his opening speech, Colonel Le Xuan Hung, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue, emphasized that the drill took place in the context of the complicated situation of fires, explosions and accidents. In the first 6 months of 2025, there were 1,497 fires nationwide, killing and injuring 78 people, causing property damage of about 138 billion VND. In Quang Ngai alone, the prolonged hot weather increased the risk of fire, especially in industrial parks and facilities with a large workforce and using many flammable materials. The selection of Biscafun Factory as the drill location was to ensure practicality, because this is a large production facility, operating continuously, with a large workforce, and posing many potential risks of fire and explosion. It helps to accurately assess the ability to handle emergency situations in a real industrial environment.

The hypothetical situation is that a fire broke out during the welding and repair of a corrugated iron roof at the factory, causing a compressed gas tank to explode. At the time of the incident, 45 workers were working and 10 people were directly affected, including those who were injured, fainted and trapped due to the collapse. The exercise mobilized 268 officers, soldiers and employees from 06 units and 31 specialized vehicles. The implementation process consisted of 05 stages: detection, alarm, mobilization of on-site forces, deployment of specialized forces, fire fighting and rescue, first aid, evacuation of victims, scene investigation and experience drawing. The police, military , medical, traffic, civil and grassroots fire fighting forces coordinated smoothly, according to the scenario, ensuring safety and technique. The drill program contributes to assessing command and management capacity, practicing situation handling skills and raising legal awareness on fire prevention and fighting and rescue for businesses and employees.
