On the afternoon of March 18, the Russian Central Election Commission announced the preliminary results of the 2024 Russian presidential election.
Accordingly, with nearly 100% of votes counted, incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin achieved a support rate of 87.33%.
The remaining candidates, including Nikolai Kharitonov won 4.30% of the votes, Vladislav Davankov - 3.83% of the votes, Leonid Slutsky - 3.21% of the votes.
Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia Nikolai Bulaev added that the rate of Russian citizens going to vote reached 74.22%; of which the rate of people voting online reached 94%.
Immediately after the preliminary results of the vote count were announced, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the incredible level of support for presidential candidate and current head of state Vladimir Putin showed the contradiction in the statements about the illegitimacy of the election from the West.

“The incredible level of support among the people is the best evidence that any speculation about the illegality of the election is groundless. About 87% of the people supported it after 24 years of power, this is an unprecedented result,” Dmitry Peskov said.
At the same time, LDPR Party leader Leonid Slutsky congratulated the incumbent Russian President on his convincing victory in the election.
Meanwhile, the leader of the New People Party, Vladislav Davankov, emphasized that Vladimir Putin's victory is certain.
“We have already looked at the first preliminary results, but before that we had no doubts about them because I visited 29 regions and clearly saw support for V. Putin. Of course, there is no doubt that the winner is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” Vladislav Davankov told reporters.
According to Mr. V. Davankov, the important thing for this political party when participating in the election is to be able to convey its program of activities to the people and tens of thousands of people participated in the vote.
Along with the candidates, many heads of state also sent early congratulations to Mr. Vladimir Putin. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev affirmed that the current Russian President had won convincingly.
Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the high voter turnout and the voting results clearly demonstrated the unconditional trust and strong support of the Russian people for the political line and socio -economic reform program of Mr. V. Putin.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was also one of the first heads of state to congratulate Mr. V. Putin. Caracas expressed its steadfast readiness to continue close cooperation with Moscow. In addition, the presidents of Nicaragua, Tajikistan, Honduras, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and Chairman of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un sent their congratulations to the Russian leader.
