Spain still uses Huawei technology to store eavesdropping data
While 10 EU countries have banned Chinese vendors from Huawei's 5G infrastructure, Spain has yet to formally impose a ban, despite the fact that major carriers such as Telefónica, Orange and Vodafone have already removed Huawei from their core networks.
The government has still signed a €12.3 million contract with Huawei to manage a court-ordered archive of wiretapped data. The technology used is the Huawei OceanStor 6800 V5, a high-performance storage system used to classify and secure legally intercepted communications, such as data from the Koldo corruption case or recordings from the UCO special investigative unit.

The choice of Huawei over companies like Dell or IBM was mainly due to its lower price, despite concerns from the National Police and Civil Guard about national security.
The Spanish Interior Ministry has yet to list Huawei as a “high-risk supplier,” in order to maintain diplomatic “leverage” in relations with China.
Maintaining cooperation with Huawei is also seen as supporting recent Chinese investments, such as carmaker Chery in Barcelona and MG in Galicia.
Meta builds 5GW AI data center
Mark Zuckerberg just announced on Threads that Meta is building a data center called Hyperion, designed to provide 5 gigawatts (GW) of power for the new AI lab. Hyperion will be large enough to cover most of the island of Manhattan and is planned to be located in Richland Parish, Louisiana, USA.
Meta plans to activate 2 GW of capacity by 2030, then expand to 5 GW over the next few years. Additionally, Meta will launch a new AI supercluster called Prometheus in 2026 with 1 GW of capacity, located in New Albany, Ohio.

These two centers will help Meta compete directly with OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Anthropic in the race to train top AI models.
Meta’s project could have unintended impacts on the environment and the ability to provide electricity and water to residents in the area. Previously, Meta’s project in Newton County, Georgia, had caused some residents to have their water cut off.
Google confirms merging Android and ChromeOS
Sameer Samat, Google's president of the Android ecosystem, has just announced: "We will combine ChromeOS and Android into a single platform." This is a move to shorten the gap between tablets and laptops, helping Google compete better with Apple's iPad.

This plan has been rumored for a long time. For a while now, ChormeOS has been developed on the Android platform. This year, Android has been updated with a desktop mode, support for external monitors, and resizable windows like ChromeOS.
The move, which will help Google speed up feature development and improve the user experience on tablets and laptops, is a change that has been expected for more than a decade — it was reported back in 2015 and mentioned before that.
