With the spirit of helping people overcome the consequences wherever the water recedes, from the afternoon of August 28, when the water had just receded at some points, working groups urgently deployed to clean up, dredge mud, collect garbage on inter-street routes; organize the cleaning of 7 Cultural Houses. At the same time, they directly went to each poor household to support people in cleaning their houses and stabilizing their lives.
In parallel, the ward police force also coordinated with local health agencies to spray disinfectants at flooded areas, public areas and cultural houses to prevent epidemics from arising after floods, ensuring public health. Lieutenant Colonel Le Viet Thuan, Head of Ham Rong Ward Police, said: “We have advised the ward People's Committee to coordinate with other forces to establish 7 working groups to organize environmental cleaning in neighborhoods, public areas, cultural houses, and directly support people in cleaning their homes. With the goal of 'where the water recedes, clean up there', we hope that people will soon stabilize their lives and feel secure in working and producing.”
Sharing her emotions, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thong, the wife of a martyr, currently living alone near the riverbank in Ward 4, Ham Rong Ward, said: “The floodwaters receded, leaving behind a lot of mud and dirt. I am old and weak, and cannot clean up by myself. Luckily, the police and young people came to help, I feel very warm-hearted.”
