Storm No. 5 has caused damage in some localities in the Northern Delta and the Central Coast, many rivers are still at alert level 2 and alert level 3; Currently, in the East Sea, there is a new tropical depression, at risk of strengthening into a storm, causing a particularly complicated and dangerous "storm on storm" situation.

From the evening of August 29 to August 31, the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue city is likely to experience heavy rain with a total amount of 150-350mm, locally over 600mm; the midland, the Northern Delta and Da Nang city will have a total rain of 70-150mm, locally over 300mm. The tropical depression/storm is expected to make landfall and cause heavy rain in areas that have just been affected and damaged by recent natural disasters (storm No. 3, storm No. 5 and post-storm floods).

To proactively respond and minimize damage caused by heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides, people need to pay attention to the following recommendations:

For people in disaster affected areas

1. Regularly monitor forecasts, warnings and developments of heavy rain, flooding, flash floods, and landslides to proactively prevent and avoid them; especially heavy rain occurring at night.

2. Proactively evacuate from areas at risk of deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides; Pay special attention to unusual signs of flash floods and landslides such as: explosions, strange noises, shaking and cracking of the ground, and cloudy stream water to promptly evacuate the area to ensure safety of life.

3. Absolutely do not go through underground passages, spillways, bridges, culverts, roads or areas that are deeply flooded, have fast-flowing water, or have roads at risk of flash floods or landslides (signs of water seeping out, rocks and soil falling from the slope onto the road...); do not swim, fish, or collect firewood on rivers or streams during heavy rain or floods.

4. Proactively stockpile and preserve food, drinking water, medicine, and necessary supplies to prevent flooding and isolation for many days.

5. Actively protect aquaculture areas, livestock and poultry farming, and agricultural production.

6. Raise assets, keep important documents in a safe place, move vehicles to higher ground; proactively cut off power and close gas valves before water rises.

7. Proactively clear drainage systems near your home and residential area to create flood escape routes; notify authorities when there are incidents of clogged drainage systems or deep flooding; do not park in areas at risk of flooding; beware of flooding in apartment basements.

8. Coordinate with local authorities to implement flood prevention plans, ensuring smooth traffic for urban areas, especially during the important national event celebrating the 80th National Day on September 2 in Hanoi .

9. Save emergency phone numbers for use in case of emergency.

For tourists:

1. Comply with the instructions of local authorities at the destination.

2. Regularly monitor weather and natural warnings to have a suitable and safe travel schedule; keep in touch in case of emergency.

3. Proactively prepare necessary supplies and items (raincoats, flashlights, spare chargers, etc.); keep clothes and important documents dry.

4. Pay attention to traffic safety, do not go to or near areas at risk of flooding, flash floods, landslides.

5. Save the hotline number of the rescue agency at the destination. Each citizen needs to promote the spirit of proactive prevention, ensure safety for themselves and their families, so that the whole country can celebrate Independence Day 2/9 safely, meaningfully and completely.
