In Nam Ty village, which has steep mountainous terrain, weak geological foundation and was already affected by the 2024 floods, the large-scale landslide phenomenon that recurred on the night of July 24 and continued in the following days caused subsidence of residential areas; landslides damaged DT.127 road at Km15+1050, irrigation works, domestic water, and broke many electric poles, forcing 6 households to urgently evacuate; 44 other households are in areas at high risk of being affected by natural disasters.
In Nam Manh village, from the area of group 3, which used to have a large slide in 2023, many cracks in the terrain have continued to appear since July 24, causing subsidence of house foundations, damaging internal traffic roads, especially in the areas of groups 2 and 3, making travel and transporting goods difficult, damaging the houses of 24 households; 30 other households are in areas at high risk of being affected by natural disasters.
Currently, the landslide area is at high risk of affecting the lives and properties of households in the area. Based on the above situation, the People's Committee of Nam Hang commune requested the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue and the People's Committee of Lai Chau province to declare an emergency situation regarding natural disasters due to subsidence and landslides in Nam Ty and Nam Manh villages. At the same time, direct relevant agencies and units to coordinate with the People's Committee of Nam Hang commune to develop a plan to relocate households affected by natural disasters due to subsidence and landslides in Nam Ty and Nam Manh villages to new locations, ensuring safety of lives and properties, and soon stabilizing their lives.
