On June 29, at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History (District 1), the City Department of Culture and Sports held the Announcement and Opening Ceremony of the thematic exhibition "National Treasures - Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City."
The exhibition features 17 different national treasures at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, including the newly recognized National Treasure Ceramic Pot (recognized on December 31, 2024); Dong Duong Buddha statue (Champa culture) dating from the 8th-9th century; Goddess Devi statue (Champa culture) dating from the 10th century; Surya god statue (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 6th-7th century; Goddess Durga statue (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 7th-8th century; Sa Dec Buddha statue (Oc Eo culture) dating from the 4th century...

The ceramic pot, belonging to the Dong Son culture, dates back about 2,500-2,000 years, and is currently in the private collection of Pham Gia Chi Bao. The pot was found in Dong Tien commune, Dong Son ( Thanh Hoa ) in the Ma river basin. This is the 7th pot of the Dong Son culture discovered, but it is the largest and most intact artifact, with a balanced and sturdy shape.
The outer surface of the steamer is decorated with a combination of hammered rope and smooth finish, not only providing aesthetic value but also helping to increase durability, prevent cracking when fired, and retain heat well when used.
Ceramic steamers are considered typical creative products of ancient Vietnamese people, reflecting the technical level and social life of the Metal Age - the time when the Hung Kings founded the country.
The exhibition also displays the "Luong Tai Hau Chi An" seal dated 1833; the "Treasury Bill of 5 Dong" printing block dated 1947, which are two national treasures in the collection of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum.
The two paintings "Spring Garden of Central, South and North" by artist Nguyen Gia Tri, made from 1969 to 1989 and "Young people in the city" by artist Nguyen Sang, sketched in 1967 and completed in 1978... are two national treasures in the collection of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts.
The theme "National Treasures - Heritage Masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City" is on display until August 10, 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the 17 national treasures on display this time are vivid proof of the length of history and culture of the nation.
From Dong Son pottery pots, artifacts symbolizing Oc Eo culture in the 2nd-8th centuries, Champa culture in the 8th-10th centuries, to Nguyen Dynasty antiques and valuable works of art; all reflect the brilliant imprints of the periods of development.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut hopes that the topic will bring deep emotions to the public, contributing to spreading the love of heritage, raising awareness of protecting and preserving national treasures. At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City needs to continue to pay attention, invest in collecting and preserving more effectively the treasures that exist in the city in the new cultural urban space.
As of 2025, Vietnam has 327 artifacts and groups of artifacts recognized by the Prime Minister as national treasures. Of these, Ho Chi Minh City has 17 national treasures being kept at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts and private collector Pham Gia Chi Bao./.
